Plants turn Purple/Gnarly/WTF? Its NOT COLD. OR BURN. Totally ruins plants

Got this photo from a member on another forum who is having this problem, and posted photos.

My friend is also having this exact csame problem, and has had this problem with most, but not all of his plants for the last 4 friggin years. HUNDREDS of plants.

This is Not Cold, nor is it burn.

Im thinking is some kind of Cal/Mag problem, but need all the help I can get, plus will pass the info on.

This usually starts at the onset of flowering.

They grow fine in veg, and then the instantly start this when they start flowering. We don't have this problem Inside, with the same plants. Inside they often don't stay as wet as long as they do outside.

Inside they get scheduled feedings as you don't have to mess with the rain. If it rains a lot, they can go without food longer because they cant be fed when wet.

@rikdabrick ... is this similar to the infection your own plant(s) had?

Looks strange to me... I'd bring in a fresh truckload of dirt next year. High quality dirt by the cubic yard is pretty cheap honestly. $100 worth should grow around 5-10 lbs if you have your own truck.

Your saying it's not the cold, not the soil, not the nutrients... I mean its gotta be somethin right? Those leaves look like nutrient imbalance to me, probably poor soil conditions. I know your saying that cant be it, but I'm just telling you what it looks like to me.

Dunno what else to tell you.

It looks like what happens to me when I leave rooted clones under a dome for too long without fresh air. You said these happen outside right, so maybe too humid? You don't see inside because I'm guessing you have some climate controls? I bet some air circulation would help. Do they sit humid and still for some time?

Never said it wasnt some kind of nutrient deficiency. My thoughts are its some kind cal/mag/p deficiency. I already stated this. Helps to read.

Wasn't feeding them anything except whats been in the container forr 2 months.

They have been fed granular, like a farmer uses.

19-19-19
0-0-60/Kelp
Calciic/Dolomitie
Water only, and they did great for 2 months. 6 feet tall.
My theory is that its a P/Cal/Mag deficiency from to wet, causing PH fluctuations,, and not enough food. But is just guessing.
Did give them a feed 2 days ago, and will see how this goes.

Fed 2 tsp each per 5 gallons.

Give them water only for a few days and watch if the new growth is good. Pointless throwing more nutrients at them as you will end up going round in circles, the soil they are in may well be saturated in nutrients. I have seen similar years ago when I tried miracle grow was a bad idea.

They've only been fed 1 Time, other that what was in the container for over 2 months. Me thinks the food is all gone from the containers. And they may have been wet to long.
They started turning purple with no feedings.

The purpling looks similar to what I've had, but the leaves aren't deformed like mine from what I can see. Good looking out for the brother regardless @Tim1987

@jimihendrix1 you might look into phytoplasma infections. I'm about 99% positive that's what myself and some other growers in Hawaii have dealt with. It's a bacterial infection that's spread by bugs that have bitten infected plants. My indoor plants have never had it, but all my outdoor plants got it with soil and feed being the same indoors and out. I don't think that's what you're dealing with, but maybe it could be?

I have seen responses about the phytoplasma infection, and for sure would not rule it out, and put it very high on the list. Yep.
I totally agree this is what it may be.

The leaves are only in the 1st stage of fuckup. They will get worse.

Your population of anthocyanins is likely the issue

This is all wrong. No wonder your having issues.... I was pretty close to the mark with what I said above... you wouldnt be in this situation at all with decent soil and a normal nutrient profile.

Im assuming they've run out of nutrients, and today have totally reupped their food supply to see if this corrects the problem. Probably should have reupped 3 weeks ago.
The plants grew great until they started the purpling.
Nothing wrong with the Promix BX as far as medium goes.

Gave them today.

Also its very possible this is a Phytoplasma Infection caused by insects bites. And there is NO CURE.

If what you've been doing for 4 years has failed every year, you should start by assuming you dont know it all an listen to people when you ask questions.

What di I know tho, having never had a problem outdoors or indoors..
