I have grown 6 autoflowers and although I have had some snafu's here and there ( Fungus Gnats , Nute burn, Hot soil , Nitrogen toxicity ) Ect ect However I have had some great smoke. I have never been happy with the yield's so I ordered my Photo's from Herbies and I'm raring to go upon receiving them . Alway's use Herbies they rock.

Anyhoo , I have two main concerns, 3 or 5 gallon pot's, and I only want to transplant one time from solo cup into their final pot's. Is this ok, I have read mixed feeling's on the subject. With auto's I germed and left them in the 3 gallon pot's and they were fine. However with photos I am going to Germ in a Red Dixie party cup and transfer to it's final pot ( 3 or 5 I'm not sure ) . I have a small closet grow space so I cannot have them get any taller then 4 feet or they will be to close to my 400 W HPS / MH Ballast light. Only growing two plant's at a time.

Any help would be greatly appreciated !!!

Hey there. You can plant in whatever size pot you want. However you are best to pot up as the plant out grows its pot, that way you get the fastest growth imo

4 feet is pretty restrictive. You will need to scrog.

How are you planning to deal with the heat?

I agree, I would recommend letting them start veg in a 2-3 gallon then pot up to a 7 gallon and veg for 30 or so more days. With a nice filled out root ball i have noticed better growth rates with that rather then starting right off in a huge pot. Also If you let them fill out the 2-3 gallon pots and let the soil dry properly before transplant its really easy to pop them out and loosen the root ball with minimal stress / recovery time.

Well I just have a fan for the heat, worked fine for my autos, I could remove a wood shelf in the closet and get another 3 feet or so. Right now I have about 6 feet , I said 4 to keep the lights at least 2 feet away from the top's / Cola's .

So I should start them meaning Germ in 2-3 gallons or germ in the solo part cup ???

Yeah I let mine dry out before transplanting and there is very minimal shock. I'm going to be transplant some 18L pots into their final resting pots at 36L

Germ in a solo cup and once its sprouted you would want to transplant again within 10 days I'd say. If you start to see roots coming out the drainage holes then you are probably ready to move up to the next pot.

I would invest in a centrifugal fan/filter. Get a 6inch, so you don't have to buy it later when you move up your grow room.

What's your total grow area size, 6 feet high is sweet.
