Please need info on drip system

Could someone possibly tell me how a drip system would work?
I was wondering if it drip 24/7 or a partial of the time,... stuff like that?

I am using soil too by the way.

I m trying to find a easy way to water multiple plants at a time.

I've always wanted to do this hope someone comes in with some ideas

Depends on the medium, if you use something like hydroton it could run 24/7. Any absorbent medium would have to run on a timer to avoid overwatering. Design is very simple: pump, reservoir, manifold tube (usually 1/2"), drip lines (1/4"), drip compensators, and if you want drip stakes or ring.

Hey newgrowth, thanks for your response.
I am using ReadyGro Aeration formula...

So from what you are saying there shouldnt be holes, i should make a thin line instead?
By the way whats a drip compensators?

You run a 1/2" line off the pump and then poke holes in it with a special hole punch tool you can usually buy along with the irrigation equip. There are little 1/4" barbed fittings that pop onto he holes in your manifold line. You use drip compensators to control the flow they are all rated in GPM, the drip compensators also keep even pressure across the system to ensure equal flow to each plant. They are just little plastic coins with a barbed fitting on either end cost about $.25 each. Google "Rainbird" they have pictures of all this stuff on their website.
