Hey guys and gals,

Firstly, thanks for taking a looksy at my pathetic first attempt to grow! Secondly, thank you in advance for any and all advice. I've read load of other posts where people ask questions exactly like this one but none of the plants seem to have dried tips. I reckon I'm overwatering, probably over feeding too. This IS my first attempt so please be gentle! :-(

So these are the facts.

These lovely ladies (Feminised) are 2 weeks old. About a week ago the tips of the lower leaves started turning yellow, then brown and eventually crumbled away. I chilled out on the watering and all seemed well.

Yesterday I noticed a few small yellow spots on a few of the upper leaves and the tips of some of the newer leaves seemed to be starting to dry out. Needless to say I am concerned!

So I guess you should know what abuse they've been dealing with.

I lightly mist twice a day and give them a small drop of rainwater into the tray. The water goes in no time so I was initially worried they weren't getting enough moisture.

I mist with an indoor plant feed every 3-4 days. It's not weed specific as I'm on a tight budget. On taking the photos I noticed what looks like a residue from the plant food on the leaves. This can't be good!

I have 2 20w fluorescent bulbs hanging above them - they give out 100w each.

The soil is just ordinary potting soil.

Nothing else to tell but I'll answer any questions you might have.

Any help, advice or smack of common sense would be fantastic!

Hi and welcome to the forum!
Sounds like you have a few things going wrong. First, you want to stop misting, and start watering the pots directly. Water until saturated, and then don't water again until the top couple of inches is thoroghly dry!
Secondly you're going to need more light. 20w CFL's are just that - 20w. But what matters, is lumen output. You want about 3500 lumens minimum per square foot, to grow.
Stop feeding the plants - you shouldn't start to feed until they are around three weeks of age - prior to this, the seedling has everything it needs to survive, foodwise. Young seedlings are also prone to nute burn.
Lastly - bring the lights to within two inches of your plants. That will stop the stretching going on.

if u dont have 1 get a fan. it helps build up the stalk, if u dont ur plant will bend over coz it cant support weight. check ur soilbag it may say on it that it has nutes already in it. if so then u aint gaunna need to feed them for 3 maybe 4 weeks.

Thanks guys! I've bought another light and a bag of perlite and I promise to chill on the watering. I'll think of you guys when I'm sitting on my couch pondering the mysteries of the curtain. Peace and love!
