For your setup yes 150 HPS is enough for your grow area.

Yes I would keep the cfls because you are gonna need that blue spectrum for vegetative state.

You can grow the entire cycle with just HPS but I am no expert on this

Dunno if this will help! But Grolux and sunmaster hps bulbs have added blue in the spectrum for vegging. Only thing is, i am not sure if they make 150w versions. Anyway, best of luck with your grow.

It also will depend on how you grow your plants (Topping, LST, etc.) If you LST, you won't need as much lighting from the sides.

Well i dont know why htgsupply would tell you 150w is enough for 9 sq ft, cuz it is not,.... For 4 sq ft maybe,... I use 400hps in exactly 3ftsq closets and it works out to 5550 lumins per sq foot, which is adaquate,.. Optimal would be closer to 6500 to 7500 lumins per sq ft, which i could get with 600 watt hps, but then there would be heat issues,... Do some riu searches on lighting and youll begin to accumulate ideas, .... In your situation the best thing to do would be s.o.g./lolipopping where you get the plants a certian height for your grow space and when budding begins you shear off everything on the bottom 1/3 of the plant and just concentrate on top cola buds,....

i only have four square feet so why would a 150w HPS not work? im not growing a jungle in there. only two or four plants at the most..

150w will work fine for your grow area, just be sure to keep the plants as close to the light as possible without burning them

Edit: I use a 250w HPS from HTGsupply, I keep my plants about 8" away from the glass cover.
