Sorry for the long post, but I have added as much info as possible.

Short:
Made changes to tent for summer
Flower development since change is abysmal
Is it glass in hood affecting intensity?
Change to RO(although plant is healthy as..) back to tap now
High temps(my diagnosis)? fixed
Symptoms are similar to light leak, without the herm flowers, but i cannot find a leak.
Pls help

LONG:
First some general info:

Afgan skunk from clone on day 5 of week 5(8-10 weeks norm)
In a 1x2m tent, running a 400w hps(less than 6 months old) in an air cooled hood.

OUT: Filter>fan>duct>hood>duct>wind ow
IN: window>filter(outside tent)>duct>fan(inside tent)

RO(now back to 100oom tap), canna AB coco, GH silica(adding this in preperation for heat stress) canna coir. 500-800ppm, 5.8 - 6ph. *Temp lighs on: 28-34d*, temp night: 24-30d, humidity: 50-80%.

The problem I'm having is that since making upgrades to my grow tent for summer, Bud production is slow, airy and has no vigor.

Note on overall plant health: its great, no dead leaves, no discoloring, little to no purpling(tells me cal/mag is ok?). There is some stretch from heat stress but at the end of the day all vegetative parts look great, but flower development is abysmal.

The changes I've made are:

*(these are to battle the summer heat here)Inlet and exhaust fans(hyper 6inches), Air cooled hood, New carbon filter(phresh)

*Switched from tap to RO water(Haven't noticed any deficiencies in veg or bloom, in fact all the little niggles I used to have are gone since the switch, plants haven't looked better, in veg anyway.) I have since switched back to tap, problem persists.

*(I'm hoping this is the cause, because then I know how to fix it)Change in seasons to summer, i pretty much put this plant into flower at the height of our summer(25-45degress). I know full well that this is way too hot, but there's not much i can do without AC except for optimizing my tents air exchange as best as possible. My plan was to knuckle down and bare it and I get what I get till cooler weather, but wasn't expecting them to look this bad. Temps are back within range, problem still persists

*(I'm hoping this is NOT what it is)This looks almost like symptoms of light leak, but with zero male flower development(is that possible?) I check and double checked(sat in the tent for nearly an hour and still couldn't see any sign of light leak(complete darkness, can't see hand in front of face).

*Lastly, could it be the change to the air cooled hood, mainly the glass on the hood. I have been reading that adding glass in front of a grow bulb can reduce its output, also have read that adding airflow around the bulb compounds this. Can there be that much of a reduction that its causing this poor growth? This is now the only change made

As you may see, this strain has great potential if grown half right, so as you can imagine im quite frustrated. Thanks for any help.

It should not effect it to that degree. Probably the highest temps have shocked the plants and stopped all growth for some period of time. That can cost you weeks of recovery each time.
Be sure your hood is well sealed and not forcing hot air out of the seals and double check your timers are not fucked up or have segments where they are coming on without knowing during dark period. Check for light leaks.
Your night temps are pretty high. Guess you live in a very warm part of the world.
Hope you solve your problems.
 
Temps are too high, Are lights on at night or during daylight hours? If that was my situation I would take the light out of the tent, throw it in the open room, then stick the plants back in the tent for the 12 hours of darkness.
34c is over 93f.
 
I'd take glass out and see what happens.! Even change it back.. Try n try again, no need to keep it as is; you'll get there.. Good luck and happy growing

coreywebster, i do indeed live in one of the hottest parts:(. And atm aircon is outside my budget. I made these changes in prep for our summer here and the plan was to just knuckle down and bare it and I get what I get, but i didn't think they were going to look this bad. I have my system dialed though, i can get my inside tent temp within a degree of outside tent temp, at least that sounds like its working ok?

confussed, all plants you see in the pics are clones from my afghan skunk mom, the pic your talking about is at day 5 of week 5, top is after changes, bottom is same age but before the changes.

Gaz29, yea as soon as summer ends/temperatures fall right down i will be removing the glass, the plant in the pics from the previous harvest was grown under a batwing, bare bulb and it didn't turn out too shabby for a noob such as myself.

wonderful news i just wanted to judge mine on yours lol

i am on week 4 today so i am a week and 5 days behind your girls growing an auto fem bubblegum so i can now wait until it week 5 day 5 and compare how badly mine looks in comparison hahaha
 
the 3rd pic down is also day 5 week 5 but in optimal condition or before summer hit here, that's how the current plants should be looking at their age, fucked up situation atm :(

This isn't a golfball type pheno for sure, the buds grow more like a Sativa than indica, then really blow up in the last 3 weeks. Last pic is before harvest at 8 weeks, prolly could have gone another week but i was outa meds.

up to 113 degrees F is pretty damn hot in a small tent


also your humidity range has a large swing
you might also consider spraying for molds

are the clones also having trouble rooting?

the only other comment they look a little nitrogen rich but I don't think that's the story
 
are you running the a/c in your house?

is your home cooler than outside?

if it is try pulling air from inside the house and exhausting it out

or open the tent every night and close it every morning

but itll make your a/c run more $$$$

bigger fans or less light or switch to LED
 
Thats surely is not from glass blocking light intensity. If it were light leak, you would have small undefined little leaves with no serrated edges all over due to reveg & I dont see this.

EDIT: On second look it does appear that you have some of those little leaves I mentioned (I was comparing the wrong order of pics). It's been stressed out though either with a light leak or heat or both. Its trying to revert back to veg so bud production has come to a hault and its energy is being used elsewhere. Have any issues or glitches with the light/timers etc come about in the last 2 weeks or so?

It can revert back to veg without showing signs of herm. I think you are on to something. Check your light timer too. It may have been bumped, reset, or just went to shit on you. It happens.

Im wondering , in addition to all the wonderful points made in the last few posts, if youre also moving too much air through that cool tube, and cooling it so much that youre affecting light output. I mean, a 400w in a 1mx2m is stretching it in the first place, compound that will overcooling the bulb, and there goes your yields because your light intensity diminishes, no density to the buds.

Just a thought. You seem to have your shit together, for a self proclaimed noobie, and your doing a wonderful of reporting the conditions and changes within the room.

Worse comes to worst, crank up that humidity and airflow and ride the heat wave out.

Don't know about u guys but all the pics are broken from my OP, so damn. I'll try and get some more up.

Big BIG thanks for all the reply's, I'm fairly sure now that it was down to the heat and having the tops too close to the lamp, i think the air cooled hood gave me a false sense of security, i was just going over my logs and that previous "good harvest" under bare bulb was around 3ft away, i had these under 2 ft, close to 1ft from the glass, basically not paying attention. I now base the lamp distance on how hot the tops are, I'd rather they stretch a little more while being at a suitable temperature than producing airy fairy shit as seen above, the laser/infrared temp guns are great

Things have improved a little it's filled out allot with the lower temps, so i may get something worthwhile, but its nearly 4 weeks older than normal and its only just started its swell, with only 5% reds. ill try and get some updated pics

I just can't fucking wait till summer is over, the one time i get my shit togeather and do stuff half properly, ...we get one of our hottest summer's on record, just my luck. ahh well some good lessons learned.
