That's what I was thinkin , I just transplanted to 5 gallon containers ... Is that what the spots on the leaves r from lack of nutes cause of root bound ... Why do the leaves twist for never have seen that before which its been 3 years since I've had a grow

When plants become rootbound, they act like sons of bitches! They can even give you middle fingers! Seriously! :-D ;-)

The most common problem with newbs is overwatering. If you are checking on your plants daily then why drown them , right? Make sure you give them enough water to dry out in 2-3 days..this helps incorporate a feeding schedule when its time to start feeding. overwatering sufficates roots and then the plant cannot uptake nutrients causing all sorts of issues. Go light on the water till you dial it in as the plant grows

There is nothing good in feeding when your plant doesn't need it! Especially in FFOF & FFHF, which are rich in macro and micro nutrients (even more than enough).

I think your mix is fine, as far as you don't add any extra nutrients.
What is FFOF AND FFHF...
FoxFarm Ocean Forest & FoxFarm Happy Frog.

Even with those plants being as old as they are when should nutes be applied , or what is a good starting time
Best time for adding nutes to your medium is when your plants need nutrients and those dark thick leaves indicate that your plants need to be left alone. I can't give you an accurate timing here. I can only suggest that you start feeding with very low levels of nutes whenever needed, maybe 15% of the recommended dosage, and see how your plants react. They will tell you how they like it.

One dose of 1/4 strength was all I gave em but they have had couple doses of water no nutes and was transplanted to bigger containers
