im about to start getting my supplies to start growing wat size pots should i use? how many different sizes should get? ik i need to transplant the plants but idk how many times and when...can someone answer my question
I transplant every 2-3 weeks... start it in a party cup.... I bought all my potters from home depot 8 inch and 10 inchas for pot size, the general rule is half gallon per foot. you should transplant as few times as possible. it would probably be best to start the plants in the same pots you plan to finish them in, unless space is an issue in your veg area
yea but did u see the plant he posted on the other thread. fucking unreal!!! im going to stasrt transplanting every 6 minutes now!!!I don't agree with transplanting too often, especially not every 2 or 3 weeks, that amounts to 4 - 5 transplants during the entire length of your grow.Every time you transplant there is a risk of shocking your plants unless you really know what you're doing and have the experience to keep this to a minimum.
I would say don't transplant more than 2 times during your entire grow. But that also depends on how long you want to veg. If you go for longer veg times you want the biggest container you can get your hands on, some people go as big as 7 gallons. On the other hand if you want to go 12/12 from seed ad force your plant to flower from the beginning then you wont need a very big container and 3 gallons can work for you, heck some people that do 12/12 chose 1/2 gallon containers and they never transplant. Again it depends on how you want to grow.
So you can already see there are more than a few factors to take into consideration here.
The general rule of thumb used to be 1 gallon per foot of length you want your plant to reach. Lately I have been stumbling across opinions and literature stating that 3/4 of a gallon per foot of height and the first person to reply to you stated half a gallon per foot....So as you can see already there are a few conflicting opinions on the subject. My advise is to take the middle ground and make sure you have at least 3/4 of a gallon per foot of height desired.
If this is your first grow, then keep your transplanting to a minimum. Germinate in 18 oz party cups and then once these are root-bound move to the final size container you plan on using during flowering.
