pots or in ground until sex?

so I was wondering if I should keep all my plants (3-5) in pots until I find out the sex? or should I just plant all the seedlings into the ground and chop down the males? also, how long would it take to find out the sex if I started in mid/late may in NE?

Yo im in NE too and im just gonna start em inside and move em outside. pry wont b able to tell the sex outside for a while since it doesnt usually show untill flower. Im planting then waiting till flower to see what ive got
