Pots or Storage Totes?

Is it better to grow in pots or storage totes outside? Since many of the totes allow sun through, how are roots affected when exposed to sunlight? Storage totes are a lot cheaper then pots but just wanted to find out if pots or storage is better?

the best route is straight into the ground outside , the nest best i think would be pots here in south texas , we try and put a white container on the outside of the black pots to cut down on the heat, totes would be too heavy to move and tend to break from oxidation
