power plant broke in half at 1 wk

About one week ago my power plant had snapped completely in half while i was moving it. I took the top half and planted it in regular vegetable soil with no added nutrients. Now it seems to have been growing slowly. It has a new knot at the bottom where the first round leaves used to be. But the first couple set of leaves(3's)
Turned yellow at the tips and soon shriveled up and died. I've been giving it small amounts of water of the basis of the pot regular (3 gallon pot).At this point I'm thinking its just going to be a clone. It is an outdoor plant in Florida. about 75-90 degrees farenheit the weather is very bipolaer here.lll have pictures up tomorrow. Any thoughts or ideas on this I appreciate :)

I've looked under all the leaves for bugs and they are clear. Those are actually its 4th or 5th set of leaves. The others turned yellow then brown and shriveledup and fell off

Were the ones that turned yellow and died below those leafs? Did you look under the leafs with a loupe or microscope?

Yes they were below the leaves and no I did not look with a microscope because I don't have one. But as I said the plant broke in half when it was one week old and all I could do was re-pot what I had. Is this technically a clone as well?

If you re-planted the top half that broke off then yes it is a clone! The lower leafs will be consumed by the plant if necessary for the plant to survive. If that is the case then your soil has run out of nutrients and you would need to help it. Be very careful with the amount of food you give it, a little goes a loooong way with these girls!
Mites are very very small and damn near impossible to see with the naked eye. They chew on the under side of leafs which causes the light colored dots on the top of the leaf. You can pic up a jewelers loupe at most pawn shops for a few bucks which you will use more than you think. Checking for bugs and the color of trichomes to be exact!!!

Ok.. I went back and read your original post again and see that it was the top half so yes a clone!!

I clone my plants and see some yellowing during the rooting process. Once the roots have established, the plant's perk up. What is your goal for growing medium? Do you want to stay with soil? Do you want to use bottled nutes or would you like to grow organically?

Awesome!!! Be very careful with the miracle grow it's strong stuff!!

Have you been reading in the organic section? Non chemical amendments added to your soil will be the best way in my opinion. I get all the way to day 47 of flower with clear water only before I see issues with my soil mix then start feeding tea's. Do a search on Subcools super soil and start reading. I re-amend my used soil and spent around $170 for my amendments that will last me around a year. The only bottled stuff I use is liquid sea weed (Kelp) and MooreBloom fish emulsion 5-1-1.

This is my amendment list:
Blood Meal 12-0-0
Bone Meal 6-9-0
Kelp Meal 1-0.1-2
Alfalfa Meal 2-0.5-2
Jobes Veg&tomato organic fert 2-7-4 (flower)
Jobes all purpose organic fert 4-4-4 (vegging)
Dolomite Lime
Green Sand 0-0-3
Ironite 12-10-10
Earthworm castings 1-0-0
Chicken manure 1.5-1-0.9
Mushroom Compost 1.12-0.67-1.24
Steer manure 1-1.5-2
Forest Compost
Epsom Salt
Sphagnum peat moss
Perlite

Some of this is used 1 tbsp-1/4 cup for 40 gallons of used soil so it last's a long time. After a lot of trial and error I have stopped trying to feed my plant's and started feeding my soil instead. So far it is the best thing I could have done!

I have some Holland's hope and and skunk #1 seeds on the way any experience with these strands? So I'm not that bummed out if this one dies

No experience with those. Get some neem oil and a spray bottle. mix a small amount of neem oil in a bottle of water and spray the under sides of the leafs to help with the mites. You might also try some liquid seaweed in a spray bottle and foilar feed it. Just make sure the lights are NOT on after or you will get burn spots on the leafs.

Those spots look like mites. I personally would trash it right now, bleach out everything an start over, with a plant that small you will have nothing but problems from here on out because of this. Problems that are almost impossible to eliminate and a huge pain in the ass to control.

this plant could be a learning tool for him! With the mites, I would not introduce another plant to the room for sure!

you're right, I was just stating that from my experience if I got them this early, not worth the work. If you get them like 3 weeks into flower that's a totally different story, and also way more depressing.
