Whats the aproximate max PPFD can be? The light i'm looking at has max levels of 1565 PPFD in the center 2x2 area hung at 6"s off the canopy.
Can leds be placed this close or will they damage the plant?
I'm wondering if I should go for the 640 watt model instead for my 5x5 or just get the 800 and dim it down a bit

Thanks in advance for your input

So what should I be looking at besides ppfd in regards to this light?
I'm really not experienced in par ppfd etc etc.
But if I need a light to be ran close, and soft. I would pick whichever light has a higher diode count

With dimming functions available, always buy bigger. If it can be dimmed, you're buying both lights for the price of one in reality.

And by the way, 800W is actually spot on what you need for a 5'X5'. The 640 would fare in a 4X4 space. If you have no restraints, buy the 800 no doubt.

somebody once told me a good rule of thumb would be ~200 for seedling and young veg, between 500-700 is good for mid veg and mothers and 800 to 1000 for flow and everything over 1100+ is a high risk to burn your girls

Agreed. Even less for clones than seedlings. Also, it matters very much what temprature you have, how long time you run lights on (18/6 is 50% more than 12/12) and how you get to the intensity, fast or little by little. 1500 is too much for most, only seen it work fine once and still not sure how the plants didnt fry
