The picture below is a photo from today just after the lights came on, this was around 6am so the temp was a little low (16°¢) also i pulled of the cotyledes (spelling may be wrong) i dunno,

I would like to know if they should be showing signs of pre-flower.

If you talking about Buxton near Derby, then i'm only 12miles away from you! They seem good to me, height seems alright to me.

Gotcha just in the nick of time!

Here's a few ground rules:

Don't pull off leaves. Pulling the cotyledons off is literally useless.
They look good but stretchy. It seems like they've been in the same spot their whole life, and canopied at the right level once they reached it.

Put them closer to the CFL.

I'd say 1.5"-2.5"
Do it slowly so you can make sure they don't burn. You'll find that "sweet" spot.

Also, make sure they have adequate ventilation, if the fan is blowing on the bulb and the plants, they will burn much less.

For a lighting schedule, leave them on "around" 20h/4h.
They will automatically flower when the time comes.

Leave the lights at 20/4 when they start flowering.

How big is your space?

Calculate FINAL POT SIZE, Light size, area limits, and finally plant size.

Ask questions if you're confused, I'll float around on this thread if you need me.

Anything else and I'll post it when I remember.

Oh also, root space is one of the most important factors for good growth. Make sure to keep repotting them whenever they become rootbound.
And don't make the silly mistake of not repotting during flower.

They can and easily will run out of space very fast if you keep up on their care.

Also, it's been proven that round (circular) flowerpots provide a denser, smaller, stronger root system than square pots.

But square pots fit more volume per sq. ft.

It's all up to you, but this is just some tidbits.

Good luck!

Oh and for the sake of convenience if you fill your dirt just a little under the rim of the pot,
you won't spill a bunch of dirt when you go to repot.

The roots will take forever to fill that top layer of soil, it's only worth it to fill to the rim once they become bushes.
