preserving genetics? grandpas breath, sherbet breath, rainbow cookies

so im not big on space and maybe got a spot to run a few beans.. but here is the deal, i am trying to preserve these beans and since i cant keeps cuts or pollen. my next step is to either see if these sherbet breath beans pop. they have been siting in my sock drawer for like years.... so idk if any of these pop or not but i guess i can try and doing the normal seeds in bag germ, so i hope some pop so i can s1 some good females or maybe see if i have good males if any ! i wanna get back into it, last thing i want is to have these genetics lost has anyone grown these?

You should try a coconut water soak. It helps increase germ rate for older seeds.

I just popped some old seeds that were 4 or 5 years old and they took about 10 days to germinate so make sure you have got a lot of patience if you are popping old seeds and don't throw them out if they don't germinate within 3 or 4 days
yea im taking it easy im waiting on my heat matt its here tomorrow but i have a led light on them in jiffy pellets lol.. now i wait

Should be leaving in fridge to preserve the seeds if didn't know,also if old beans adding a little squirt of peroxide to water then spritz paper towels with beans will help to germinating,best of luck

i nver thought about that but now i know to do that i have tons of seeds im going to try if these failed it will suck that i lost og stock but life moves on there is always good genetics to keep and store for future

my plan to s1 these beans i have left is gonna still on despite set backs but maybe ill cop some new relentless or inhouse and s1 them
 
For older seeds
H2o2 (3% hydrogen peroxide) to clean the seeds from contamination + soften the shell.
A sugar extract can be added (optional).

GA3, 250 - 350 ppm depending the age.
12h soak (max).
A tetracyclic diterpenoid compound triggers the meristem transition to germinate

Other tricks that can help is to:
Rub the seeds very carefully on some fine grade sandpaper first.
With a scalpel you can carefully cut the shell, a tiny bit.

For seeds that are only few years old.
Plagron Seedbooster in a 16h soak.


Dump the solutions after use.
Put the soaking cups in a heated propagator with a decent thermostat controller.
24C - 75F
Up to 27C - 80F
 
well ill post pics soon but i had 2 chernobyl beans that popped i got these beans from a local area 10 years ago... i forgot what they got hit with but i know that this plant that was growing was a deep purple when it turned cold it was awesome. i must have like 50 of these or more beans i might just try that but im gonna go ahead and pop more A++ stuff ill also take note on the H2o2 for the beans
