:joint::joint: For those who aren't aware, this has been in effect since last week. Marc Emery was finally extradited to the United States for his felony charge of distribution of marijuana seeds to the US against the United States government's laws. The Canadian JM signed off on it, and he arrived in Seattle on Thursday I believe. He plead guilty to the charges and agreed to serve a 5 year sentence in a high security facility. :?

Canada's 'Prince of Pot' extradited to Seattle

SEATTLE —
After a yearslong battle to avoid extradition, Canada's so-called Prince of Pot was brought Thursday to Seattle, where he is expected to plead guilty to a charge that he sold millions of marijuana seeds to U.S. customers.

Canada's justice minister signed off on Marc Emery's extradition to the United States on May 10. Emery was scheduled to make an initial appearance Thursday afternoon before pleading guilty on Monday.

Emery, 51, of Vancouver, British Columbia, claimed to have made $3 million a year before his arrest in 2005, when a grand jury in Seattle indicted him on marijuana conspiracy charges.

His attorney, Richard Troberman, said Emery will plead guilty to one count of conspiracy to manufacture marijuana in exchange for an agreed sentence of five years in prison.

To drug officials, Emery was a pariah whose pot seeds were used in illegal marijuana grows across the United States.

The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration said his seeds have been traced to grow operations in Indiana, Florida, California, Tennessee, Montana, Virginia, Michigan, New Jersey and North Dakota.

But his supporters view him as a crusader for the use and sale of the drug for both its recreational and medicinal value. They accused the U.S. of launching a politically motivated prosecution to silence a prominent drug-war opponent, and said they were stunned when Canadian Justice Minister Rob Nicholson agreed to extradite Emery.

what a fucking joke, fuck the DEA, all the guy did was sell seeds, he didnt tell the people who bought them to grow them, why doesnt the DEA close down every hydro and gardening store in the USA, you could say alot of the money from that bussiness helps to grow "illegal drugs which kill you even though nobody has died yet", you americans need to take a fucking stand, this is supposed to be ur prince of pot yet you sit back and watch as he will do 5 years, get on the fucking streets, light a fatty and get this man and our plant free.

The main reason people are pissed is that it is not illegal to sell seeds.. they contain no THC whatsoever.. And Somehow we have a Canadian, serving time in a US jail, for a act that isn't even illegal here in Canada.
Yes he shouldn't have sent the seeds over the border, but why would the US want to drag someone from another country, and pay for a non US-citizen to stay in jail for five years.. He was already banned from entering the states.. What will this gain? but more focus on the fact it is not illegal to send seeds in the mail in many many countries..

It is like going after the Nigerian business man in those scam emails..... Ban him and never allow him in your country... But to go to his country, where what he did is not illegal, pick him up and bring him back to the US to serve his time there.. on the US' coin.. that seems logical..

The whole process itself is shameful, in my opinion, because you see the political motivation behind the whole thing.

i. Why the HELL would Canada extradite one of it's most notorious citizens to another country to serve time for a crime in that country that's not even remotely illegal in Canada? Is there money greasing the JM's pockets? What's the story behind this itself?

ii. Marc Emery is a huge figure for the grassroots movement of decriminalizing cannabis. 100% positive the US government wanted to get rid of him because he is one of the major reasons for this generation pot is seen for the wonderful plant it is instead of the pot we know from Reefer Madness.

I too believe this will fuel the fire even more, considering how heated the whole SB420 issue has become in the states. I'm hoping he gets out early with good behavior, because no matter the crime, prison is still prison.. That shit ain't a joke.

We need to make some 'free Marc Emery' shirts, walk to the Seattle city hall, and get a smoke session going on the steps.

See ya Marc! Glad you got what ya wanted!
I know exactly where you're comin from, but that's a bit harsh from someone that believes pot should be legal.... but yeah, I think he care's enough about the cause, or at least likes being in the spotlight enough that this makes his day in a way......

I don't understand why you all are so shocked by what happened, don't get me wrong I think this is horrible that the laws are the way they are, but he admitted to selling millions of seeds to people who lived in the United States where it is illegal to sell seeds, this is to my understanding I don't know that for a fact, but the difference between selling seeds to hydroponics or glass, is because there is a perfectly legal way to use those other items and some people do actually use them for that reason, but what legal thing could you do with a seed. And when he was making $3million plus a year his prices were high enough to assume there is an illegal market being used. As far as why was he extradited even though seeds are legal in canada, well we broke the US law so canada sends this big name guy to the US and are basically guaranteeing themselves that the next time a canadian criminal is hiding in the US for a legal law here but illegal law there and he/she will be screwed and going back to canada. This is just my two cents to add a little to the debate not start edward/jacob scale disagreement
