Love me some ProMix HP but only the loose bags at 2.8cuft. Use to use the compressed bails but they repel water and doesnt allow air to the roots as good as the loose bagged uncompressed bags.

just did a pro-mix vs sunshine mix#4 comparison and, well there was no comparison, the pro-mix smokes the sunshine. ^^^^^ you have to break up the compressed stuff. Want to see water repel? try watering that #4, it's like teflon.

It's my base for soil grows use it at 60%, then the balance is a custom quadruple mix of hotter soil, the 4th part added to a triple mix soil is about 5% well cured sheep manure. Like chuck says, buy the compressed bales and break it up well...

Yessss!! OP here. I add 1 part perilite and 1 part EWC for 2 parts promix. Not sure about ph though. Should i go with hydro ph (5.8ish) or soil ph (6.5ish)?

didn't u mix your sunshine bails with 2 bags of light warrior? well why not? how could this be a fair comparison then?

I tried them both straight out of the bag to see what was better. I usually mix in EWC to my pro mix, but did no mixing for this test. I don't think adding expensive bags of LW would have made a difference. But I'm curious to what you're thinking it would do.
