Hey growers I have a question I live in toronto and the hydrophonic store do not sell foxfarm or happy frog the only stuff he has is pro mix hd or pro mix bx witch one should I use or if I have to add anything to my soil for my regular female seedlings and my autos and what level should I use my ph at both water and soil if there any one that use this soil before can u please help

the hd is the best in my opinion add 25% perlite and you are good to go.now with the promix it is not soil so as soon as you put your plants in it ,you will have to feed them there is no nutrition at all in it. so when you feed start out at 1/4 strength .less is best

get a bale of peatmoss and a bag of.pumice or perlite or rice hulls. Mix it up and you will have twice as much as pro mix. Plus no garden lime that causes more issues than not. That's in pro mix.

@hyroot is right that mix will go a lot farther than than buying a 60lb bale of promix, however I'm lazy when it comes to that shit and Pro Mix HP is $33 a bale at my local shop so I buy it. Also don't use it for nutrient value either cause there is none! I like it cause when mixed with even more perlite it has really good drainage. I also mix mine with some ocean forest and happy frog as well. It's my top secret mix don't tell anybody! Also the only real difference between HP and BX is the HP has more perlite and has slightly bigger chunks of bark and peat in it, my opinion on the second part.

BX has vermiculite. I've read HID growers prefer it over HP because the radiant heat can dry HP too fast. Vermulite might make your soil stay wet too long if you don't have that radiant heat.

But I also heard that u shouldn't feed the girls for the first two weeks I grew autos before I don't feed them untill the 3rd week when the pistols come out then I feed them with Dutch nutrients formula bloom and it worked out fine for me that way I feed them first 1/4 of nutes for my auto and I keep hearing about fox farm and happy frog I'm from canada eh and we don't carry soil like that here does any one know what's the closest soil to foxfarm

go to any store that carries vermiculite. It says on the bag contains asbestos. Hydro shop, home depot, lowes, any nursery. That link just proved me right.

EXACTLY, they are not going to put new bags of vermiculite out with asbestos in it and my link shows that the mine that had asbestos in it was shut down in 1990

I did read it, that is how I know it's a 15 year old study and it says they pulled those products back then. Not that I use vermiculite, but I was just showing how you make shit up.

you think that's the only mine. You dont think vermiculite is mined in other countries.

the production of fluorescent lights was banned in the U.S over 100 years ago. Yet there's fluorescents everywhere. They're made in china and the UK.
