Programmable Humidifier

What do those of you who use humidifiers use? I'm looking for something for a 4x8 room that has a rh sensor and a programmable rh setting. My basement is dry. dry. dry. dry. We're talking 10-25% rh. Granted there are no plants in my flowering room yet but I'm not sure if they will help any seeing as my exhaust is very strong.

Also would there be any issue with setting up a platform near the top of the room to place the humidifier on as opposed to having it be on the floor? I am trying to utilize every sq inch of grow space so I don't want to cram it into a corner and drench a plant while taking up space.

I run the 12 disc, float bouey, fan speed controller, 80mm water proof fan, and a 20 gal drum/barrel from eBay (21.00 shipped). With the adjustable fan speed, I can pretty much dial.in my rh to match my temps with in a few %. VDP chart will be your friend when growing. Although I don't follow it in flower, clone room and veg room only.

Wal mart has one that I use that has a rh sensor and will come on and off at a set point. I've been using a few of them for years now. It works great except for a few points:

1. Does not come back on after power outage/timer off cycle,
2. There's a replaceable filter that costs $10 and is hard to get in the summer
3. Must be disassembled periodically and wiped down with colorx wipes

Those downsides have had me consider other more grow room specific options, but those are quite a bit more expensive and I'm not sure how well it would work until I try.

You might consider a timer or controller on your exhaust fan to allow humidity to build to your desired level and then be exhausted.
In my veg room, I purposely use an underpowered In-line fan so that I can keep the rh at 60% when lights are on yet keep fresh air coming in always.
