Proper way to flush?

I am getting close to finishing and was wondering about the proper way to flush my soil. I have a bottle of Clearex that I was considering using or should I use straight room temp water? Also, how much water do I run through the soil? Do I just flush until I start to get run-off or do I continue slowly with more water. Should I do the flushing during lights on?

you should always water until you have significant runoff even if not flushing, water heavy infrequently. just stop feeding them for a couple weeks water like normal (and by normal I mean untile you have significant runoff) with no nutes if your in a hurry use the clearex but you don't reallyneed to

This is a interesting thread. I have a question? I run hydro when I do my flush on flood and drain would I just empty res. and pour a couple gallons PH'ed at regular feedings?

Firmly grasp silver handle located on side/front of tank. Rotate 90 degrees to left. :) sorry, couldn't resist! lol;)

As said stop adding nutes in the last few weeks of flowering and water like normal. It is helpful to add some flush solution in last 2 watering then one last water before harvest especially if growing hydroponically.

good question, it's been a few years since ive done hydro but I think I used clearx in the res with hydro so that it flushes quicker where soil will still be feeding the plant hydro once res changed you don't got much food so you need a faster flush so the plant doesn't starve before it finishes but like I said it's been awhile

I asked about the pouring over top because of flood and drain. Just do not want to recirculate old nutes that will be hiding in the hydroton that will only be recirculating back through the root system. That little hole that you put nutes and top off in is a real pain to get into. I change out every 7 to 8 days and man oh man let me tell you. After my ladies got so big ,well and the weight of hydroton, it is impossible to get the top off. My thought as stated above is to empty my res. and then just flush from top down. I dont know which would be better though still have to empty res. through that bloody small hole. Could be worse I supose. Thanks for the reply.

Thank you for the advice. And one more thing, yes I will be feeding lightly at end then. May I pick your brain on how much to feed at end because I do not want a bad taste in my mouth, you know? Be it as it may I use flora G.H. M,G,B. & Kool Bloom Powder. Thanks for your reply. As Ever, DOOGEY420

I used GH Flora as well but minus the Kool Bloom. The only non-GH supplement i really needed was Epsom salts. Cal-mag will fulfill the same function.
In my opinion, the only thing you need to worry about in terms of having a bad taste would be ammoniac or urea nitrogen. GH doesn't have much of the first and none of the second. It's primarily a concern for soil growers who use the cheap urea ferts like Miracle Gro. Those are good products (for those who know how to manage the rather narrow window between Not Enough and Too Much) for soil growers but inappropriate for hydro imo.
