Props to TGA...

I have never bought TGA... I was always kinda standoffish due to the many posts where peeps say TGA genetics are not so quite stable. To make a long story short, I got a couple of freebies - a querkle and qleaner.... Dropped them both, and both are doing well, one better than the other. But I accidentally mixed up the two and don't know which is which :/ But I know one is a girl, the other I'm leaning towards male based on pre-flowers.

But anyways, the one girl plant, is probably the nicest plant I have ever grown to this point... It's still pretty early to say but I have high hopes for this plant and will probably dedicate a 600 HPS to her, and only her when the time comes.

Hope I don't jinx her by posting this thread but I guess we'll see.

It can give you clues about YIELD, but other than that I agree.

Its tough to tell bud quality/effect merely from their appearance.

I would add here, that stability and quality are NOT synonymous.

Stability just means all the ceeds from a pack will grow into similar plants; it doesn't necessarily mean that the plants are good or worth smoking.

For example, you can grow a perfectly inbred F40 100% genetically stable commercial hemp line and end up with buds that are utterly worthless for smoking. Or you can grow some completely unstable ridiculous "mutt" of a polyhybrid that grows like crazy, tastes awesome and is super-potent.

Stipulating for the sake of argument that many of TGA's lines aren't stable, that doesn't by itself mean the plants are no good. It just means that they'll put out various phenos. It may be a case where most of the phenos are good, or it may be a case where most are NOT so good, and you have to grow a number of plants before you find one that has the characteristics you like.

If you want to grow the same exact plant time and time again from ceed, its not a bad idea to start with inbred lines, but if you can grow out lots of different plants, and can deal with variability, unstable lines may not be all that much of a handicap.

Ive grown 6 or 7 TGA strains. No hermies and all were good if not great smoke. I have not had a nasty tasting strain at all from Sub. Some were poor yielders. Some were light on the potency. Most were frosty. I have Querkle and Agent Orange going at present. Sub's got a lot of haters but my experience has been pretty good. Theres a ton of F1 pollen chuckin going on in this industry. Not sure why so many hate on Sub when theres guys like Arjan out there

Who is bashing sub here? I'm just saying in general...
I've had Identical growing plants turn out buds that don't resemble each other in the least.
Different potency+flavors(what I care about the most)Yield comes a close 3rd for me.

I wouldn't toss ANY plant just because of it's growth habits> If it grows too tall I train+flower earlier > too short let it veg longer.
You can find very odd plants that produce buds that will please the pallet.

I am kind of embarressed for this Querkle. Next to Dr Greenthumb Bubba Kush. This is at week 6. These 2 share a tent and 1000 watt hps. Looked great in veg. You really never know whats gonna happen til you hit that 12/12 switch. This Querkle is sugar coated and smells great but yield is pathetic. Thankfully my other keeper pheno gets huge nugs

Haha... I realize quality/quantity of bud is all that counts and urkles and their crosses are slow as phuck with yield not being all that... I personally like my lanky sativa - plant looks horrid but yield is decent with a quality smoke.

I am just impressed with the structure of the urkle/qleaner or whatever it is up to now.... Very smelly for a plant so young in flower. Of course it can all go hermie and I'll be hating on it all over again but for now, it seems strong and wants to do good things but only time will tell.

I like diversity so I don't mind TGA having a range of phenos. I think his males are proven for certain attributes by now which is why he keeps them around. That being said, a lot of his gear does end up similar because he uses the same males over and over, which has kept me trying different breeders as well. I will however keep a TGA strain or two alongside my others until I run through the wishlist I have going. Too many flavors out there to stick with one guy, but nice to know you'll get some good smoke regardless, unlike some other breeders out there... (like Arjan's puppy mill o' dirt weed)

You'll enjoy your Querkle. Very little stretch on her, so make sure she's big enough before you flip.
