I pruned the 6th node its been 4 days and no response. i was under the impression instead of the one leaf i would get two smaller ones. theres a slight deficiency (i think its mg) but it doesn't seem to be stunting any other growth. Thx for the help...

I don't think you understand what you did by topping it..... the 2 little leaves your talking about would be the two new shoots (growing tips). they will grow from the two closest nodes to where you cut it, they don't just magically appear where you cut the plant.

I know what he means though. The way the guide explains it you would think your clipped stem is going to split into.

Yeah it just means your two little shoots will grow faster and become your new top.

Relax..I topped a root damaged plant and it took about a week to get over stress..also don't fall into the OH god my plants has everything wrong with it syndrome.. You topped, let plant recover from surgery... then if you notice a def. or something..make sure, read FAQ..the worst thing you can do is start throwing all kinds on newly read about "cures" at them..tat will usually over burden the plant...and wasn't the main problem in the 1st place... relax wait and watch...if no plant responce in a few days then ask a few ?'s...
Luck

so nothing new grows when you cut main leaves off? your just making room for the smaller leaves to come in?
from what i`m reading here you cut the main keaves?( do you mean fan leaves) if thats what you cut thats wrong. you need to cut main stalk not the leaf.

He said he cut the node, which I would assume he cut the stem just above the node.

That's right, the two sets of leaves that should have already started from the node where you made the cut above, that's what will start to grow. Trust me it's worth it. Anyway you have already done it, so just watch the difference it makes, your plant top will get bushy now.

i must be seing things then because you even quoted the same statement, CUT MAIN LEAVES. there is more involved than just making room for them to grow. i can pinch a fan leaf off to make more room and it dosen`t split like this method does. just trying to clear it up for any noobies reading this and may go and cut the leaves expecting it to work. i feel people need to know why they do certain things to plants. makes for a better grower.

you got it bonz thats what i did...so if i were to cut horizontally the second node from the top, the next new node would get four new leaves?

well i was cutting fan leaves to open up some light for the new branches coming in i was expecting to cut the ones i did then have the bottom leaves fall of naturally, i wa hoping that with those leaves gone i would get more light to the bud sites...

i`ll take a pic of my plant and show wre to top it, dont take to many bottom ones off unless they are dead. the less of them the slower and smaller the plant will be. they need them for the photosynthisis.( provides life). i just got back from the mountain checking my outdoor garden so give me a bit and i`ll do those pic`s if you would like.

ok heres the pic`s. the first one is 2 of my plants. the one on the left was topped at about 4 weeks into veg and the right wasn`t touched. both started life at the same time. untouched will have a main cola and some good buds on branches and the topped is full of smaller nugs on lots of branching. the second pic is were to cut

now how i did mine was were you see my finger is where i cut, topping dosn`t need to cut at angle like cloning ( straight across) mine will look a little different because the branches have grown. top yours just above the node, about a half or quarter inch above node. there will be the main branches (fan leaves) shooting out and right up against the main stalk there will be little growths were the fan branch is, those will start to grow out, sometimes 4 will come out. when they get a bit bigger you will want to tie the new growth out towards your bucket so they can get even light or it will just be a big bush full of tiny nugs. tie them out and they will get big ( more light)
if you need any more info or better pic`s just let me know and good luck.

oh and i dont even use scissors i just pinch with my finger nail.
