pruning JillyBean

Helloooo,

I'm growing JillyBean for the first time, and boy is she bushy! Wondering if I should be pruning at this stage more? I got her as a clone and she's been growing for 2.5 months.
Depends on what kind af structure you want to give it. I like mine to stay lower than the fence, so I trim them back and pull them to the sides with garden stakes. I'll put a trellis net when they start the flower stretch.

Have you topped it at all? What size pot is that? It will like a larger container. I wouldn't transplant after the end of July for risk of stressing it due to root damage at the beginning of flower stretch in August, but you could go ahead and transplant to a larger container now.

Looks healthy BTW.

Thanks! It's a 5 gallon and I'm switching to 10.
I've topped her twice so far...
If you're not already doing it, I highly recommend you do preventative maintenance for bug pests. There are different ways to go about it. I use neem, spinosad, and BT with weekly foliar and root drench. Apply after sunset. Those will burn the leaves if applied during daytime. I stop foliar applications when flowering begins. Don't spray stuff on your buds.

Good luck! Peace :peace:

I wont top my big outdoors again after this week for what its worth. Flowering is just around the corner and i want max veg out of those toppings before that sets in

I’m in the same spot! I’ll be thinning out my bushy plants to allow for better airflow and light penetration.
If I leave them as they are now, I’ll have tons of small buds, I’m thinning out to promote more energy to fewer bud sites that’ll give me bigger buds!
IMO if you don’t have a bug issue, don’t spray. Mine have been outside since May 1st and I haven’t sprayed once. Mid August I buy sachets of beneficial bug eaters! Andersoni (sp) they will control any russet or spider mite issues if they pop up. Just insurance!!
I do keep Green Cleaner on hand as it eradicates bugs and molds.
