Pruning or Not

Hello all,

My first post here - woohoo! I've been lurking and searching for info and tips and it's all much appreciated.
However I haven't come across the answer to my question of whether or not to prune the plants.

I currently have one 5' shrub that is doing fantastic but I'm thinking of doing a major pruning so as some light can get to the bottom sections and middle of the plant.
BTW my girl is 2-3 weeks into flowering, feeding her 0-50-30 once a week.

So any opinions?

Cheers,
Aaron

Welcomt to RIU. you might consider getting some stakes and see about spreading the branches open instead of pruining, maybe helpful

Tie that shit down, and make light go where you want it. By pruning, all you are doing is removing the plants ability to turn more nutes into buds.

Opinion #1: Don't do a "major" pruning. Tie down or stake and spread instead.

Opinion #2: Cut the strength of that bloom fert dosage in half (or more).

Opinion #3: Do not stop feeding N this early in flower. Big mistake.

I don't prune during flower. At harvest I pull the top half of all my plants and leave the bottom half to swell up a bit. All those former shade/popcorn buds now get direct sun and continue to swell up for 2-4 weeks (weather dependent). Don't over do it tho, no need for dead Trichs.... Good luck man.

got a question for ya GB, if lower branches have big buds on the end would cutting lets say half of stem so popcorn buds stay and will get more light

Thanks guys for the replies. I've trimmed a few of the fan leaves that were in the way, and I've tied down a few stalks.

As for ferts, I never dosed her once during vegging and only started with the bloom buster ferts last week (now 2 doses).
are you saying this is too much? So far the results are very promising.

Guess I'll try and get some more stakes and tie down some more.

Thanks again,
Aaron

I take anything bigger than a gum ball and wait for the smaller raisin sized buds to double or even triple weight and size. Tricks of the trade ;) Good luck.
