pruning? training? increased yield?

ok this is my 3rd grow outdoors.

Normally I don't do much to the plants, I just let them grow like a Christmas tree, except for last year I had a plant top itself (seriously, new growth on top died and it sprouted 2 new tops) and it grew 7ft tall with 2 tops that gave sweet smelling bud.

SO, my questions are: What is "pruning"?, What is "training"?, and will either of these really increase yield for outdoor plants?

Oh, and what is a good way to clone outdoors?

It can increase yeild but each strain is limited to the ammount of bud it can produce...most strains you can get more from extra colas and budsites but normally it would just spread out the bud more evenly....I think going for 2 colas from a top you can get a bigger yield but the potential that a strain can yield is able to be measured in maximum grahms per square meter because of this limit on the ammount of bud the strain can produce on any given plant, so in short, the best answer to your question is it depends on the strain. If your limited in vertical height it is important to train because you can grow out the plant to its full potential this way and get the appropriate ammount of bud.

Some strains you will find on here and the internet people have found they actually double their yield or more when they top for 2 cola or 4 cola.

so the best answer is to try out some of the techniques on your strains and observe the results, you could be in for a pleasent suprise.
