PSA for humidity control!!

Hey guys! My grows have always been high humidity grows, and I’m sure that’s effected my yields, talking 70%, even with proper ventilation.

So I bought one of these bad boys after releasing reviews and stuck it in the grow room,

https://www.homedepot.com/p/Eva-Dry-4-6-oz-Mini-Dehumidifier-E-333/202847328

Humidity dropped 25% overnight. The best part is these things last years, do not need to be plugged to use, and are 14$

If you have humidity issues I’d recommend one.

I’m chillin at 45% at the moment :)

Well fellas my room is only 8x10 so this inexpensive unit works wonders!

Now if I had a whole floor to myself to grow I’d spend 3-500$ on a real dehumidifier

That thing is rated to work on a 333 cubic foot room. If your ceiling is a standard 8 feet tall, then you're room is 640 cubic feet. So you're not ever going to get proper dehumidification. The drop was probably more down to local weather changes than that device.

A proper dehumidifier for a room that size runs around 80 dollars. Look into getting one. The issue you have with that little thing is two fold:
  1. it's passive, not active - meaning it relies on whatever air happens to be around it than anything else.
  2. it can do absolutely nothing about spikes - meaning that if you get 4 days of rainy weather, your humidity will shoot through the roof and that thing might as well be a brick.

Don’t be surprised when you harvest and find mold hidden in your flowers. I’m dumping 45 pints every 12 hours in a 5x5. It’s not working like you think it is, proceed with caution.
Good luck

Well this is not my first grow in this room and I have never had mold despite 70-80% humidity

If anyone has a link to a dehumidifier they use please share!

Make sure it has auto restart function! If the power goes out and your not home for awhile it will not restart until you turn it back on if it doesn't. That could cause catastrophic issues if it spikes really high during high humidity season.
