Pulled the trigger

TLDR psssh, just some newb being all newby

3 out of 4 bagseeds popped, 1 was really dark and fermented? i think it was called.

Babies have hatched and are in there solo cups with FFOF + 25-30% perlite, with a tiny layer of perlite on the bottom over the holes, under a 300W marshydro light in a 2x2x4 tent, currently 12 inches from the light with a temp. and humidity staying about 77-83.5F and 40-50%. I have some pretty clean and good drinking Well water with a PH of 5.8 out the tap, leaving it out for 12 hours brought it to like 6.2.

QUESTION 1: Whats the deal with distilled water? with FFOF for seedlings for a few weeks, would that be preferable to any kind of tap/well water?
QUESTION 2: From the name and description, light burn is what it sounds like? as long as my thermometer is reading at plant level in the 75-84F range, the height from the light can be whatever fits that range without going over 85-90F+?

I live in a relatively hot climate and for now am just trying to get my feet wet so I needed to stay small and indoors, only space available is a utility room and insulation value in it and the house is frankly garbage lol. So i got a small 5000btu window ac unit. I also have a 3x3x7 tent in the room that will be the main tent soon, I am running it at the same 18/6 intervals as the other tent, with 3 pepper plants in it (mmm..peppers), in order to get the whole room balanced/stabilized. It has 4 marshydro300w and cfm carbon/filter/fan.

Currently I am venting into 2x2 tent(located right near the AC exhaust), threw to the 3x3, and out the top to the fan which is mounted high and blowing the hot air near ceiling level in the same utility room. My thinking is that I know I am going to need the AC no matter what, and by venting back into the room the hot air will meet the low humidity AC and give me a few % of moisture back. (also the window is way undersized and I cant take the top leaf out and this more than likely only be a training room for a year or so, dont really wanna take the window out)

QUESTION 3: If I can keep humidity at 40-50% and stabilized, will that be too detrimental to the younglings? I've got water and rags and sponges in there and at best I seem to pull 50%.

Thank you to anyone that happened to have read all that :blsmoke: and I am open to any and all suggestions, other than going and buying much better stuff ;) for now I am trying to learn.(In time for when my GG seeds get here:bigjoint:

P.S. I'm really not sure about the whole pictures posting thing atm..these phones/computers are so much smarter than me...

Humidity isn't the big problem people think it is , Itl jump around anywY as you water and evaporate, it's better high in veg.i wouldn't recirculate your air, get the used air out so passive or intake can bring in the good, get an oscillating fan , temps are a bit high but should be ok,but it's strain dependent, some can handle them some not so. 90 plus is a problem, they go into a suspended animation and stop growing in these temps but again some can cope with that. Distilled water will be fine, but I'd get a ph meter personally and ph to 6.5 when you start nutes as this is the sweet spot for soilless mixes, some young plants don't like ph when very small either, ff should have nutes in it for a few weeks depending on how light or heavy the brand is.

Distilled water is best since it has a TDS of zero. You started a plant in one of the "hottest" soils out there. Zero vitamins will be a good thing.

No matter the temperature keep your light 18"-24" for seedlings with led.

50% for seedlings and veg is acceptable. Try to get it higher if you can, especially in veg. Veg optimal Rh is 60%. However make sure there are fans circulating air in the tent or you will get powdery mildew on the fan leaves.

update.

10-11 days after sprout and I just transplanted 2 of the 3 into 3 gal pots and put them into the bigger 3x3x7 room. The two I moved over are looking pretty good, it might have been a day or two early to move, but the soil was mostly dry and when they popped out of the solo cups the roots were holding everything together, including the perlite on bottom, so I am thinking I did that right.

I'm going to assume that I want to call today day 1 of veg.

I also went ahead and disconnected the two tents from each other as far as air flow. I think I had way too much ducting for the fan to be pulling air through. The 2x2 has a small 6" clip on fan without the clip blowing air out of the top on low and both bottom air holes in the tent are open. The 3x3 is now its own entity, carbon fan sucking out and passive air coming in from the bottom with a fan blowing air around inside and I've got humidity in there around 50% and temp at 77-79F.

So hopefully, in a few days when the roots finish healing/growing, the plants will start to grow to fill their new home.

It is so very nerve racking being a First Time Grower lol. I can not wait until I get a few grows under my belt.

I'm going to go smoke this 2g blunt of pure sativa and watch the horses run around in the rain :-) You all have a wonderful day and thank you in advance for any thoughts/comments/reading this

For future reference you should start seeds in a seed starting mix, of make you own with coco/peat moss+perlite and some vermiculite if you have any around to retain moisture.

^^^^this. I also do this if you have a strain that can take a bit of abuse. I mix 50% ffof and 50% light warrior for seedlings.
