Pumps and Aeroponics

So I'm designing my own aeroponics system for an upcoming grow. I have a question about pumps to use though. I know that it's possible to have an insufficient pump, but could you end up using a pump that would be, for lack of a better term, overkill? I would assume that this would never be a problem, but this is my first venture into aeroponics, so I want to know for sure.

Running an oversized pump with too much resistance will cause overheating and premature pump failure. You can install a bypass to control this. This is simply a line that returns excess flow back to the reservoir, with a ball valve to control the flow.
