Put plants outside

If I have the clones under a 400 watt light when ready to plant theme outside do I half to hareden theme off or ca can I put theme strait in the sun all day long I know I will half to keep light on them for extra hours when there outside this time of year

Best to harden off first. I've put plants from in to out without hardening off in the past though. When I do I place a milk crate over them for a few days. The milk crate creates filtered shade/sun, so plants adjust easier.

Hardening also helps the plants adjust to the temperature variation better. You can get curled leaves and leaf death if the plants aren't accustomed to cold nights. At least you can with tomatos, but plants are plants. Harden em off, then at least you wont have that to worry about. ;)

not true I've put strong indoor seeds outside and its like putting you outside when you wake up and its 90 outside at 2:30 in the afternoon. not gonna work! its gonna make you flinch, and a plant can die period point blank

Well im in MI and never had one die from a tomato to my ladies. Maybe you west cost fellas have that problem from extreme heat but not over here.

A seed yea, a lady with nodes and growth wont have much off a problem. Damn sure shouldn't die. So what if it gets a lil leaf curl on the 1st outset its gonna be outside for months. Its way more shit to worry about.

My plants melt from inside to outside even in the shade for the first couple of days.Straight sun on the first day would surly kill or make them useless. They get pissed ! it takes about 3 days of babying before they can take full sun in the summer. Winter is a bit easier.

I generally don't harden anything off. But if the plant is showing any stress I'll put them in partial shade for about 3 days.
