A month or so gone I finished up growing a single plant of NYC Auto by Pyramid seeds. The description attached to the seeds was:
We are pleased to present our New York City, a very vigorous strain with a peculiar taste.
So I thought I'd add a little mini review of my own.
The grow
This was my first grow, and the setup was a bit of an ongoing mish-mash of experimentation.
I was pretty happy with the outcome given it was my first grow. I had some spider mites around week 6 which I used home made garlic/onion/cayenne/detergent spray on and it dealt to them enough that they didn't come back in numbers. The Molasses definitely gave the plant a needed boost the couple of times I used it. The Powerfeed seemed to do a good job as well (was introduced because some of the lower leaves were starting to yellow around week 6), although I started getting the slightest hint of too much nitrogen on the leaves. I flushed the soil and let it dry around week 7 and this did the plant a world of good, as it was just bordering on being over watered.
The smoke
It definitely has an unusual flavor. Flavor is a bit like citrus and lemon-grass. It's mostly Sativa genetics so the high is very uplifting. This one keeps me awake - if I imbibe before bed I usually won't get to sleep until 12 - 2 am. A good smoke for during the day - I've gotten quite a bit of work done with the right amount (desk job). I'm still in the process of curing the bud properly (about 3 weeks in) so up until now have found that too much tends to make me a bit paranoid. However made a decent amount into some green dragon and for this one it's definitely the way I enjoy it most. Probably going to convert the rest into GD as well once I've finished the original batch.
Summary
I probably wouldn't go for this again. The flavor is a bit too unusual for me. And I'm looking for something with a more initial uplifting buzz that tails off to a sleepy feel for bed. I mostly smoke in the evening. Any recommendations appreciated although next up I think I'm going for an Indica. I've got a nice little Cali Connection Grape Kush freebie, as well as a Royal Queen Sweet Skunk Auto to try out.

- Lights: 2 x 25W CFLs (1450 lumens each); 3 x 15W cheap Chinese LEDs; 4 x 3w LED spots (total watts = 107w)
- Air filter: home made setup to start followed by a proper centrifugal with carbon filter 5 weeks in
- Soil grow - cheap potting mix from the local hardware store
- Molasses - added inconsistently
- Seasol Powerfeed Liquid Fertiliser - inconsistently
- Cupboard 600w x 250d x 1800h (mm)
