Q about picking outdoor grow space (available light)

So Im currently researching grow spots and a question came to me.

Do my plants need 360 degree open spaces? as in no tree's above blocking light?

Obviously if they were growing on open land its more of a risk than growing in dence woodland will the plants even grow in those conditions?

Will the plants only grow from direct sunlight?

These are auto's btw

Ok, first of all sunlight has amazing penetrating abilities. On the cloudiest of days sun will still penetrate the cloud cover with about 1,000,000 candle power of light. Also, at the atomic level, light will pass through one plants foliage to light the plants below. Still, you do want to plant MJ where it can get the most direct sun as possible. To best judge a potential grow site you need to visit it at all times of the day to see what the sun is doing. Early morning might have sun coming in under the tree's canopy, followed by a period of time in shade as sun moves over canopy, then full light as sun moves overhead etc. Some time in shade can actually be a good thing especially in very hot climates, but too much shade and you won't see maximum yields. Also, as the sun ( at least here in US ) is always somewhat south in the sky, your main concern should be providing good southern exposure. So your ultimate grow site would be a copse of smaller trees which provide for good southern exposure, and don't put your plants in the shade too much.

I'd plant autos in full sun. The growth time is too short for limited light and you'll end up with just a couple grams a plant.
