Question about brown buds but Not bud rot

What causes 4 different strains to all be brown after dried and taste bad? I received some and I don't know what they're doing but all 4 different strains are all brown and not good tasting. I've seen bud rot before, I believe this is something else. However, I have never seen bud rot buds dried completely, is that even a possibility they could make it to that point?
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated, I'd like to help a fellow grower out.

Some other mold, penicillium, aspergillis, theres a lot besides botrytis that can turn buds brown. If it burns your lips smoking, smells and tastes like peat its probably from mold.
