Question about cfl spectrums

So i'm going to be starting flowering soon. and i was noticing all the soft white bulbs i see are 1700k lumens. and most places i read say 2700k are best. i can't seem to find any bulbs with 2700k so will the 1700k lumens work? and how much of a difference is there between them?

not too sure...
2700k shouldnt be that hard to find
wal-mart, hardware stores should have them...u could try it tho.

2700 are everywhere even grocery stores. I dont think that 1700 is even available in the state of new york

You are getting Lumens confused with colour temperature.

Lumens are light output and have nothing to do with spectrum. 42w cfls just happen to put out 2700 lumens, but do so whether they are 2700k or 6500k.

I agree with Illegal smile. If it helps, warm white or soft white is usually 2700K and daylight is 6500K.

i see the warm kitchen and bath bulbs everywhere there are usually 3000k get the highest watt. you can find.
