question about clones

so first of all any help wil be appreciated.ok so i took clones off of 2 of my plants and placed them in r/w/c. anyway they have been doing fine but when i went to check and see if there roots had started forming and they had but instead of them coming out of the bottom of the rock wool they were growing out of the top is that normal? anyway i was wondering can i transplant them know?

When you see roots you can transplant. If you have excess humidity around the clones it can cause the roots to grow out of the medium. Be sure to acclimate the cuttings gradually (don't bring them from low light to high light, or from high humidity to low humidity, or change the pH of the medium too quickly).

If you have them sitting in water, it can also cause the bottom of the stem to die from lack of oxygen and only roots near the surface will form. If your rockwool is being kept excessively moist, the roots could be growing upward to look for more oxygen.
