Question about Fire Blankets and using them as reflective tools.

So In my closet (where I start my seeds before sticking them outside) I have 8344 lumens from cfls in my closet. This is what my light meter reads. In the back of my Lexus there was a first aid kit and it contained a fire blanket, which does not look like it would protect you from fire. It is see through on both sides but if you put light up to it, it will reflect it back. After surrounding my lights with this, I now have 11125 lumens in my closet.

I have also made it so the fan blows the air up through the bottom and then out the top tiny hole and the 2 bottom side holes. The temp has gone from 75 degrees to 76 degrees and this is after 24 hours of leaving the lights on. So there is virtually no temperature problem.

All I am asking is basically, will this reflect too much light back towards my plants towards my babies and burn them when they sprout?

Here is a link on amazon where you can buy them. and here is a pic of what I did. http://www.amazon.com/Emergency-Mylar-Thermal-Blankets-Pack/dp/B000GCRWCG/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1339190005&sr=8-1
get-attachment.aspx11.jpg THEY ARE MYLAR THERMAL BLANKETS. They are also known as Space blankets, emergency blankets, fire blankets, etc...

The light only leaks through where there are holes to let out air and take in air. As I said, no light can go through the plastic light paper, but you can clearly see through it, especially when light is on the other side.

Well, I guess I probably just posted this in the wrong spot, maybe I should have moved it to the indoor section. Anyways, after about 10 minutes of searching google I found a forum where people were saying they were the alternative to using tin foil or Car wind shield reflectors. SO this means they work, very well, and do not cause your plants to burn!

Hope this helps if anyone read this and was wondering the same thing.

Using those blankets is better than using aluminum foil, that's for sure lol. You could probably get a little more light out of your system if you went with straight mylar. Looks good though

I mean they seem to reflect less than aluminum foil, and 3 of the 6 seedlings have poped and are showing signs of loving life to the maximum level, if you know what i mean. bongsmiliebongsmiliebongsmilie:sleep:
