Question about flushing

So I have never flushed my plants. But I have noticed a strong burning taste when smoking the buds. So this grow I’ve decied to try and flush the plant. She has about 1 week left before I cut her down. I started flushing her 1 week ago, then the ppm run off was 700, and I brought her down to 400ppm. I watered her today and the run off ppm was 70. My problem is she is still green.. And according to the breeders she is suppose to display all sort of purple/black colors at the end of flower.. You think 1 week to go is sufficient enough to be able to get some nitrogen out of her?

This is the main problem with flushing in my opinion. I think a harsh taste is usually from improper curing, taking plants early, or genetics. The plant above appears to have another couple weeks to go, hopefully she’ll ride it through even though you flushed, but starving a plant when it needs food the most doesn’t make sense. The purple colors come out with cooler temps with many strains, and many just don’t turn with every pheno, so that is possibly genetic, but if you lower your temp they may change color some. Good luck!

At the risk of sounding like a prick, this question has been debated many times over, and you might find the most complete answers in some of the older threads on the subject. Often, repeatedly-asked questions don’t get answered, and if they do, the answers become less and less serious the longer the thread remains active.

That all being said, most people consider flushing to be something that is not actually required, unless special situations arise - (like a lockout due to overfeeding, poor watering/drainage practices, or using soil that is too hot from the beginning).

Goodluck, and make the best decision for your situation.

Oh really?? You think it had 2 weeks + left?? If that were the case I would never have flushed it that early. The plant has stopped with all type of growth.. now I am just waiting for the trichomes to mature enough. I flipped the plant on january the 16th. So by the time I cut it down it has been in flower for 9 weeks.

Okay, so I got the questions answered and it was a rookie mistake flushing it..

Hey quick question. Are you dealing with a plant with mostly cloudy trics? If you are not wanting a strong Indica couch lock ( this is what I want for sleep ) then you may be close than you think. The pic of the close trics show a mix of cloudy and clear but I also see some that have started to amber up a little. might want to do a few more other buds and look.
.My tops are closer than the bottoms. my smaller is closer than my bigger. Week 8 here and I am prolly 2 weeks out.

The close up of the trichomes are what the most buds look like across the hole plant. I am not looking for a couch look, I am aiming for about 15-20% amber. But by nature this is a indica dominant strain (kush mints x zkittles). I have a plan to chop it in a week:)

I second curing and genetics. Some strains dont need cure, some do but I havent had that. More so that the genetics where just meant for smoking and speed drying brittle past cure window they smoked fine.

Some are just harsh no matter what you do. Maybe they can smoke better after a cure like my pheno right now. It doesnt make it smell or taste super different though. Some strains will change after 2 wks cure and smell ten times more and much smoother.

I had a plant give me an athsma attack which never happened before. Might of been my only athsma attack I ever had. My first plant. I am surprised I attempted again but quickly found that to be a freak event I still cant explain.

You got a plan better than a lot of growers.

I am in soil with organic nutes and I also grow food. When I read about flushing I thought who the hell came up with this idea as I could not imagine stopping feed on my tomatoes even if I could. Then I read about none organic grows with salt carriers and I figured that must be it. But the salt is used for uptake of nutes but that does not mean you took a salt shaker to the roots.
I have no intention of starving my plants as the natural fade seems to be doing that without withholding nutrition.
I am following and please give a smoke report on if this fixes your harsh smoke or if it is something else.

Yeah sure, will do:) I want to mention I am growing in soil. But i use salt based nutrients. So I don’t know if that changes the hole flushing idea. I know when using organic nutrients there is no point of flushing. But I keep hearing people say that once you use salt based nutrients, you want to flush it
