i have only grown a few times and i just started doing hydropontics and i use advance nutrients the 3 part series, does anyone know of better nutes for hydro setups that arent to costly? and do most people add nutes every other watering or every watering?

dyna-grow or ionic are good one parts GH's flora-duo aint too shabby for a two part. as far as feeding depends on type of system you use. I flood and drain so i feed every watering.

I use GH Floranova, it's a one part system which is super easy. They're middle of the road price-wise, but if you're only growing a couple of plants the small bottles will last you several seasons. I've been kinda curious about the Dyno-grow myself, that wouldn't be bad for a beginner either.

Want some good beginner hydro advice? Blow your wad on a PH pen. If you don't have an accurate way to measure PH (paper ain't accurate), then you're sunk. Get one that also measures EC (nute concentration) if you can afford it, but the PH is a must.

i just ordered a ppm and ec tester and i have been using ph paper but i ordered a electronic ph tester as well, what is the ideal ppm and ec for hydro? i know the ph is 5.9-6.3

i would say you are going to want it around 5.5-6.0 5.8 being perfect, and for nute's i would say the gh flora series with lucas formula works well and very easy schedule to follow and the price is pretty good.

for seedlings and clones (fresh roots) i run at about 400-500 ppm
for teens im at 700 ppm
for mothers 1000 ppm or so

first wk 12/12 1000 ppm bloom juice
wks 2-7 1000-1200 ppm depending on strain
wk 8 florakleen refill 2x that week
wk 9 tap water so whatever ppm yours is mines at 174
by then im ready to harvest

ok thanks, i am still new to growing and its only my 3rd one and i got greenhouse seed super lemon haze and i just ordered an ec/ppm meter and a digital ph meter (some guy said the paper strip ph testers suck and thats what i have), is there somewhere i can look to see what is the ppm for the different strains? or the ec levels?

I use the liquid testers cheap and work great those digital ones r stupid of u forgot to keep the tip in a solution the read is shot. Anyways g.h. flora series resirculating worked for me, check out profile pics. Oh and I tested a bunch now 24 gallon to a 55 gallon drum is the perfect amount with my regiment.

you'll have to play around with your EC/TDS strengths to determine the correct tolerances of your plants, there are a lot of environmental variables that will help dictate at which strength you should run your solution. the digital meters IME you just need to keep the tip wet (story of every guys life) regular water will do fine. just pour some regular tap water in the cover for the meter and place on the meter, works great.

I just switched from DM full Gold line to DM ONE- much cheaper. This will save me a ton of money while still using quality nutes specifically formulated for mj. I do recommend adding DMs Zone, Silica and for foliar feeding LL/S.
