question about hydroton grow.

I'm actually new here and went through a whole bunch of threads but couldn't get a definitive answer to my question. I'm using a 4 inch RW cube in a 12 inch bucket of hydroton. My question is will one dripper suffice per bucket for good root mass in the whole perimeter. Just worried that my roots wont explode out the sides and the plant will lag. My buddy keeps telling me that the roots will spread regardless just looking for a second opinion. Tried making drip rings but was having some issues with them not working efficiently. Thx in advance

I don't know man. In my system I have drip rings and if I don't get a nice even drip around the whole ring I clean the air tubes and ring. Usually starts to drip like a champ after a cleaning. Does your hydroton look wet across the whole surface?

how do you water the center of it with a ring thats what mindf**ks me. I made about 5 holes shooting outwards and two holes shooting toward the cube. After testing it whenever I'd shut it off and turn it on i would lose the spray in some holes and it would just drip. so out of frustration I've just decided to use a dripper. To answer your question no it does not
