Question about LC's Soilless Mixes

Been thinking about growing purely organic for awhile now.

I have all the ingredients to make LC's Soilless Mix #2.

My question pertains to the organic nutrients that can be added to the mix.

In the post I'm following the author says to "choose one of these organic plant food recipes to add to LC's Soiless Mix."

Here's what I was considering:

RECIPE #3 (My favorite)
If you want to use guano tea and kelp...

Guano Tea and Kelp:

Seedlings less than 1 month old nute tea mix-
Mix 1 cup earthworm castings into 5 gallons of water to make the tea.
Add 5 tbs. Black Strap Molasses.
Use it to water your seedlings with every 3rd watering.

Veg mix-
1/3 cup Peruvian Seabird Guano (PSG)
1/3 cup High N Bat Guano (Mexican)
1/3 cup Earth Worm Castings (EWC)
5 tsp. Maxicrop 1-0-4 powdered kelp extract
(That makes the "dry mix". You can make all you want and save it to use later.)
Mix with water @ 1 cup of dry mix into 5 gallons of water to make the tea.
To that 5 gallons of tea add:
5 tbs. Liquid Karma
5 tbs. Black Strap Molasses
Use it to water with every 3rd watering.

Flowering nute tea mix:
2/3 cup Peruvian Seabird Guano
2/3 cup Earth Worm Castings
2/3 cup High P Guano (Indonesian or Jamaican)
5 tsp. Maxicrop 1-0-4 powdered kelp extract
(That makes the "dry mix". You can make all you want and save it to use later.)
Mix with water @ 2 cups of dry mix into 5 gallons of water to make the tea.
To that 5 gallons of tea add:
5 tbs. Liquid Karma
5 tbs. Black Strap Molasses
Use it to water with EVERY watering.

My question is, if I water with these teas as recommended do I not need to provide any other nutes over the course of the cycle? Or are these teas not enough to sustain the plant on their own?

I use the LC Mix FFOF w/ perlite, wormcastings, dolomite lime added. I use recipe #5 I think it is which is the Neptunes Harvest Trio I also use FF Big Bloom and I have a few other organics just picked up a bag of High P Jamaican Bat dookie for this round will be making somewhat of a tea with that a few times during flower as well.

What base are you using for your mix? Pro Mix, Ocean Forest, or something else. That will have alot to do with whether or not the teas alone will work for the whole cycle. If it is Ocean Forest based I would say you will be fine with just the teas.

I'm using Sunshine #4, so not many nutrients in the soil.

I did add worm castings to the mix, however, per the instructions in LC's Soilless Mix #2

Hmm I cant really say for sure I have no experience with the Sunshine #4 but you may be fine with just the teas. It seems like they have most of what you need in them just not sure about cal/mag. Did you plan to add dolomite lime at all to the mix? Helps buffer ph and provides cal/mag. Are you using tap water or rainwater or RO? If you are using dechlorinated tap water it should provide some cal/mag for you. I used to use dechlorinated tap water. I am using RO this run but I also added dolomite lime to my mix this time and its doing great so far.

I use RO water with CalMagPlus.

Sunshine #4 is about 60-70% Canadian sphangnum peat moss and 30-40% perlite. The mix also includes dolomite, but I have added some more as I am told there isn't enough dolomite to keep the pH stable throughout the cycle.

Nice sounds like you should be set then.

Trust me, you'll be better off amending the mix AND using the teas.

Either one by itself just seems to be lacking a bit.

Using LC's mixes are a bit like making chili. Start with the basic recipe and then adjust to suit your plants needs. I do LC's #1 since I start from scratch, but that basic recipe was a bit lacking and I ended up supplementing with Earth Juice.

Don't go crazy with the amounts, stick to what is recc, but do get them in there. If you can source Azomite or some sort of rock dust, it's a big + along with greensand or other sources of minerals.
