question about my 400 watt hps

help:shock: i was running a 400 watt mh for veg and i switch to a 400 watt hps. that i brought from home depot.does it matter if i buy from a grow shop or if i get from a hardware store. and buy the the way the grow store is more expensive..tell me if there a difference i know there s a difference in the sun argro bulbs but the regular ones im not sure

i do know that some place's like htg supply make bulb's spicificly for growing and thats why there more $ i have one of there 400 watt mh bulbs and it is a little brighter i think and it depends on the manufaturer but most 400 watt mh bulb have 26,000-36,000 lumens and 10,000-15,000 hours of life mine has 38,000 lumens and 20,000 hours of life but this is becuse it was made for growing now for the hps im not to sure how they are but i would suspect its the same. so u realy need to look at the packaging and it should tell u. some are a little better then other's but agin i think it depends on the manufaturer and as always how much u wanna spend and like growinglikeaweed said if it's an mh ballest then u need an hps converion bulb if it an hps ballest then u need a mh converison bulb so to anwser ur qustion as long as the bulb is the right conversion then u are good to go no matter were u buy it but like i said find out what kind of ballest u have then find the right conversion bulb

wrong as long as you have a 400w hps ballast you can run an mh light or an hps bulb as long as the bulb is of a lower wattage than the ballast(400w).
you dont need a conversion bulb thats bull.
best bulb for you.
i use this bulb (400w) from seedling untill harvest.
i bulb does all.
