question about sexing

i assume that most of us know about the sexing method in which you tie a black bag around a branch and take it off so the branch gets 12/12 light while the rest of the plant gets regular lighting. well my question is, does switching the branch to 12/12 affect the rest of the plant? will it delay vegetative growth? will it slow it down? noobie question, i know, but its my first grow and i wanna find out my plants sexes asap.

IV never done it like that ,

but since your willing to sex one of the branches

just take you a cutting off it and put the clone in 12/12
