Hey Check - How big is the clone?

I made the mistake of tranfering 3 established plants from soil to DWC. All 3 went into shock, one never fully recovered shock.jpg(produced less than 1/2oz), the othere two have been so-so (second 20g, and 3rd I estimate will give 30-35g).

If it's young and hearty....Use cold water, treated with a transplant solution like "NoShock", to rinse the roots.
After it's in the DWC bucket, keep it out of strong light for a few days, until it recovers.
The water level in the DWC bucket, should just touch the bottom of the netpot until the roots are into the water, then drop the water level to 5 - 10cm below the bottom of the pot.

I also use Advances Nuterients, Ph Perfect, 3 Part. It was recommended because this was my first DWC, and I'm a noob. It's easy to use and pretty much Idiot Proof.

Good luck and have fun growing.

Hey Check. Absolutely. I've done it. You can take a clone from soil and put it in hydro. CAREFULLY remove the clone from the pot and gently remove excessive dirt from root ball, not to hard. Take the clone and swish it around in water to remove the majority of soil or run it under low flowing running water. Don't worry if there are small pieces of dirt clinging to the roots. Take your net pot and place a bit of your grow medium in the pot. Position the clone above the medium and fill the net pot up, securing the clone into position. If your roots from the clone are very long, cut a small, dime sized hole in the bottom of the net pot and carefully put roots through the hole. Don't force the roots through the hole, carefully work them through. It can be done without harming roots. I would have PH 6 in my DWC water with almost no nutrients (20% dosage) and allow the clone to adjust to its new home for about a week, increasing nutrients as needed. Hope all goes well. Stay stoned my friend.

Rinse the roots with water if you have a sprayer that works wonders without too much damage. Don't worry some are gonna snap, break or tear the plant will survive don't freak out. Sometimes I give them a h2o2 bath too depending how dirty and the medium they were originally in.

Thanks for the reply gents. The clone is pretty well established in the soil which she's been in for about a month. The bucket came with a drip line for it which I think I don't really need cuz of the roots are big enough. Right now I'm on my way to petco to get a air pump and a good airstone for the job. Thanks guys u answered the question directly. +rep

Checkdareplay: I think we've all done that but it was a big enough mess that I don't think I'll do it again. They've all given you good advice but you'll have to expect some transplant shock that will slow down your plant's growth for a week to ten days, but a healthy dose of B-1 should minimize that. I hope that helps. HSA
