My question is should i get a 3x3 flood tray and start flooding or stay soil and get some indoor grows under my belt. I have lots of good experience outdoors but only a few cfl grows indoors that produced an onion or two per but it was fluffy not very powerful even for the good beans that I used Strawberry haze.

id stick with soil or coco or a promix type medium.

You can get the same potency with a soil less medium its just a little harder to get the yield without extra veg. But with the right training you can get very good yeilds still.

Get some air pots or hempy pots. I prefer air pots. They help stop root circling.

Also get a HID setup instead of the CFLs.

I have never grown in soil, I recommend using a waterfarm, it's not hard unless you don't pay attention and you must read a lot. I regularly read on here soil guys talking about getting yields of 2.5 oz a plant or 4 oz per plant, I never see any of them (indoors) getting 10-15 oz per plant. I get 10-15 oz out of 1 plant in a 100 days from seed in a waterfarm, using a 400 watt mh/hps and my friends all love my weed, quantity and quality. I always recommend this thread to anyone using, or considering a waterfarm https://www.rollitup.org/grow-journals/344359-pineapple-express-g13-labs-seed.html

Soil will give you a more earthy, wholesome taste. Hydro will usually get you done a week or two faster in my experience, but I have yet to have the hydro taste anywhere near the same as organic soil(good but not as good) All in all I prefer the dro for indoor; less mess, faster, and have only seen pro's get yields off soil any where near as fat as the dro(and that is after twice the veg time usually).

Lots of great info. I def will be investing in air pots. 3.5 or 5 gallon equivalent on mazon are 20.00 each. May go coco coir and or DWC buckets are 40.00 each. What I want and what I have are getting closer and closer. I have an Ipower 600 dimmable hps mh with super hps bulbs for flowering. Mixing superthrive with all nutrients and using Tarantula for root improvement. Would it be easier in a closet setup to have bucket systems or do a table scrog with clones and keep like six small one cola strains and just beef up the one cola? I want to keep a mom in a veg cabinet with 2 42 watt cfl and pull clones from her. I have some thc bomb for that. Im thinking 2 weeks veg from clone and straight to 12/12. Comments? Im dun fing around now and getting either better or not growing. I cant waste time and security on 14g...

How big of closet? If it is less than 3x3x7 the 600 will be a bit much, but you can dim it so could be cool. Make sure you air cool with a quality fan, a cheap one will not be enough in such a small space.

I used a cheap fan to air cool a 250hps in my old closet grow. I just made buckets similar to rain forest systems( rain forest 6 from general hydroponics). They fit six clones in a three gallon bucket, so 12 plants in a 18"x32"x40" wardrobe closet. Each bucket harvested about 4oz, so 4oz a month, I cycled the harvests so I got one bucket a month. I had a smaller cabinet for a mother and clones. I would highly recommend the rain forest bucket in your scenario or do like I did buy one then copy design and made another one for yourself. It was a pretty bitching system.

I tried it with a 400 watter and got the same kind of weight, but bud was fluffy and not as good because the 400 just put off to much heat to control and that was in a bigger closet that was 3 foot x 2 1/2 x 4 foot. I just couldn't kept it ventilated.

All that in my room, still living with the parents;) they never noticed a thing! Damn kids! That was in 2003, not many people were hip to the scene back then.

PS, I tried dirt back then to, but with space restrictions you're better off going with hydro. Dirt plants want to take way to long and you can't flower out a soil plant after 1 or even 2 weeks of veg like you can in dro. They need 3 or 4 wks to make it worth it. IMO.

i run anywhere from 4-12 plants in my 4x4 tent. if you have the freedom to cut holes in your closet/ceiling then go for the closet. if not id grab a tent. theyre more than worth it. then youd be able to keep your mothers in the closet with a few cfls and grow them out in the tent.

I have a few of the 3.5 gallon ones i use for when i do 4-8 plants but if im over that many i use the 1 gal air pots.

Check out ebay for some deals when you buy 5 or 10 packs.

Id grow 5-9 plants. let them veg for a month and try to top to keep short (depending on strain) and then flower. id keep em in 2 gal air pots maybe 3.5 if you wanted.

what strain are you thinking about??

Not sure just yet. I really want to do a breeders boutique run maybe some sour cherry or psycokiller. I have Fem THC Bomb but i've heard mixed reviews on it. Money is no worry. DJ short has a bunch of nice but pricey photo beans. Def Vanilla Kush run will have to happen as the wifey is up my ass for some V-Kush. I want to figure out the setup and get one nice indoor grow in before we move. Once we move I'll have 30 sq ft to dedicate to it.

So DWC bucket and 3.5 airpot challenge :D

Sounds like a great idea! I thought you were talking a micro set up at first.
I'm thinking about putting one plant in a 3.5 airpot while the other five are in DWC. I have done dirt for years in the past, but never with airpots(they weren't available back then, or at least I didn't start seeing them till well after 06').
I can say I never even came close to harvest weights of DWC/waterfarms with dirt.

I'm talking 6-8 oz off each plant under a G-watter(from seeds, not clones), dirt your talking 1 1/2 or 2 oz with the same amount of veg as the DWC. But the dirt was far better tasting, so earthy. The dro was super sticky but even with a two week flush, no eathy taste. Still had the same great flavor but something wholesome was defiantly missing from the dro.

The air pots really help. I use promix with organic(mostly) nutes and can get 2-4 oz off of each of 4-5 plants under my 600 watter and thats only with a month to and some change of veg, lst all that good shit. And just in the 2.5 or 3 gallon airpots. I cant remember which ones i got cause ive gotten several diffferent sizes over the years and theyre close to the same size. haha

Seeds actually do alot better in air pots then clones because the tap root goes far down and then the side roots grow off that, as opposed to how the clones stem is like the taproot of it.

do you currently have any organic nutes? cause blue planet nutrients makes some really good stuff and theyre pretty cheap.

I grow hydro, and while it may not be the best tasting bud ever, I have never felt like or been have told, that it doesn't taste good and it has certainly never tasted bad. I do always cure my bud so perhaps that's why.

I love soil but I stick to it for outdoors only. A small flood table is super convenient and works really nicely too. Get a 600w HPS to match and it should give you guite a bit of herb.

I'm a dro guy too, but I honestly can taste a difference. 9/10 smokers probably wouldn't though. And yes, my dro taste excellent. Just missing that something extra that organics give.

To budbro, no I have to still pick up some new organic sauce when I scoop some soil. The last organic sauce I used was general organic bloom and was pleased with my outdoor produce.

Well if youre feelin adventurous and wanna get some pretty bangin nutes for the low, give bpn a try. I just switched to their synth line to see the difference but ran the organic line for about a year and a half And ive barely used half of each of the full gallon bottles of g,m,b and am just gettin to the end of the quarts of the smaller additives.

I'm thinking of running smart pots probably 3.5 gal. I was thinking going with ff ocean forest and a little lime for ph. Then maybe the general organics one part, just for this first run then maybe mixing a batch of soil that I can let cook for a couple months for fall time runs. Any suggestion for soil. I decided ocean forest versus happy frog or soilless mixes. I had bad luck with coco and peat moss mixes, not sure why.
