Im about 4 weeks into flower on my white widow plants and just wondering when i should start adding Molasses to the water? I found a lot of information on soil but not hydro. Also what type of molasses should i buy? and how much per gallon? If there is a better alternative to molasses im up for any suggestions. +Rep for any help. thank you :bigjoint:

I am also 4 weeks into flowering. I was at my local Hydro store and the dude who works KNOWS what he's talking about. I told him my buds were starting to smell sweet and he said if I really wanted my bud sweet tasting I needed to use what he used which was General Hydroponics FloraNectar and AN Sweet Leaf. He highly recommended Advanced Nutrient Sweet Leaf but @ $30. I went with the GH FloraNectar @ $21. He uses both in his grows. The AN Sweet Leaf not only adds sweetness, but also Actually read it below for urself.
Five years ago Advanced Nutrients scientists began extensive studies of how organic carbohydrates, sugars and other natural substances sweeten crop taste and enlarge harvest yield. SWEET LEAF
Flower-boosting Organic Energy When Plants Need it Most
Crops Taste and Smell Like Candy
Adds Size and Weight to Harvest Our scientists found the precise ratios of superior-sourced carbs, pure cane sugars, malt extracts, light brown molasses, vitamins and other organic ingredients that make your crops taste so good and produce way more.

Now what I got the GH FloraNectar which says:
FloraNectar contains all natural raw cane sugar, molasses, malt syrup, select plant based esters, L-amino acids, organic acids, polyflavonoids, vitamins and essential minerals. This unique blend of ingredients helps your plants regulate enzymes that trigger specific reactions involved in maintaining optimal metabolism. This allows your plants to achieve a balance between respiration and photosynthesis in high intensity growing environments where the rate of respiration can sometimes exceed the rate of photosynthesis.
As a result, FloraNectar ensures optimal metabolic rates during the flowering and fruiting phase when nitrogen levels have been reduced.
FloraNectar also promotes a sturdier plant structure during the vegetative phase when high levels of nitrogen are present.
FloraNectar fulfills the additional energy requirements of your plants throughout all phases of growth and during stressful times of transition.

So I know I rambled on as I normally do, when I get on here cause i'm always BAAAAAKed when I get on here. Hope this info helps u decide on one of these. If I had the extra $ right now, I'd go with the AN Sweet Leaf. I smelled one of his nugs that he had on him and OMG! SAAAH-HHHHWHEAT! Let me know if u decid on something and wat u wound up getting. :peace: -Dodge

I picked up a small container of Humboldt's Hydro Honey a few days ago.
Added it to my rez and haven't had any complications as of yet.
Def. do NOT use straight molasses, though. You'll have all sorts of algae problems.
Good luck!

I have never seen an independent side by side done on such products. All I have ever seen are vague claims made by the manufacturers themselves.

I will never understand the need some people have to put molasses in their crop. If I were to go down that road, I would isolate a couple plants, do a side by side, and compare the end results against clones running just nutes.

Urban legends are a big business as reflected in the exotic supplement market. I have a friend who is always dumping banana manna in his system swearing that everything good about his plants is because of the banana manana. When asked if he has ever grown without it and did a comparison the answer is "No."
