question on indoor growing

Hey everyone, I just wanna start off by wishing you a happy new year!

I've gone through some of the stickied threads but haven't been able to find any that show a basic run through of an indoor grow. if anyone can link any similar great threads with lots of info for reference that'd b sick!

I got 30 seedlings about 3-4" tall that started from seed, and a 1000w ballast running at 50% (dimmable digi ballast) I plan on getting another once I found out how many turn out female. some of my basic questions are:

my mH light is 4 feet from the seedlings running at 50% ATM, is this distance proper or should it be closer ? and at what height should I increase the %, and/or distance between light source & plants? the ballast has 3 selections 100%, 75%, & 50%. any other tips/advice most welcome, thank you.

p.s. this thread might also fall in the newbies section lol

Your setup sounds fine, staying at 50% is a safe way to start. You can crank it up when they mature a bit. Go to the Grow Journals section and you'll find tons of grows start to finish.

Toby what size area you growing in . 500 is fine the first week or two , 750 w for week 3 ,1000 week 4 and over . I'd keep it at 3 feet above canopy and during flower I'd recommend 2 feet or more above canopy so light will spread . Just let me know what space you working In
