Question On Seed Making

What up guy's? I was wondering how long it takes for a seed to finish developing?

I bred some seeds in my closet this year for the first time and i pollinated about 3-4 weeks into flowering, and plan on waiting until i can see the seeds have turned striped and pods are were bursting with the seeds. They look full size right now but are still green.
I was just wondering what sorta time frame i was looking at here, like i said i'm waiting until im sure but was just curious as to the time frame since i have never done this.

the number i've seen posted most often is 6 weeks
that seems to match my experience pretty closely, maybe a little less

I have had viable seeds in 4 weeks. Depends on the plant and how quickly it flowers. When pollinated at or before the middle of the blooming period they will have enough time.
Just let your plants go full term. The seeds will be mature when the plant is.

when the buds are done the seeds should be done

Just wanted to add, your seeds will most likely be green until they dry....at least that's been my experience.

Yeah don't plan on planting them right away. They do take time similar to the drying process for the seeds to develop into mature seeds. I'd suggest 3-6 mo. to be sure they are ready, that's how long I usually wait on mine. It seems to make the seeds more stable. Remember in the wild it is approx. 6 months between flowering and germination.

How well does it work to pollenate some buds from the males that came in the pack? I get conflicting answers. Some say I will never have to buy seeds for that strain again. Others say the offspring will be unstable and it takes several gens of selective breeding to stabilize them. And others say only do it to make a hybrid because the hybrid vigor produces great plants but again the f2 gen will be unstable.

I wait five weeks min just to be sure. Then dry for the same I have great success simulating winter for a week or three once dry seems to help
