Questions about First and New Grow Room Construction

I'm constructing a new 12' X 12' X 7.5' grow room in my basement and I have some logistical questions.

My current set up will be using a single 1000w setup using Metal Halide for vegetation growth and HPS for flowering. I will be using the following reflector: http://www.plantlightinghydroponics.com/sunlight-coolsun6-air-cool-horizontal-reflector-wglass-lens-p-1320.html with a 1000w Next Gen digital ballast. My first grow will be Arjan Ultra Haze #1, Train Wreck and if I have enough room, Hawaiian Snow. I will be growing in individual pots using organic soil and organic nutes (most likely Fox Farms), but I am considering also experimenting with a soiless medium and synthetic nutes also??? Also the room will be lined with either diamond reflective sheeting or mylar. Anyone suggest which is better?

So here are my logistical questions:

1.) Can I hook up a carbon can filter with an appropriate vortex fan (500CFM) to one end of the reflector and the other end hook flexible duct ventilated to one of the living room (I have a 3400 sqft house with forced-air heat) supply vents? Do I need a supplemental fan on the other end of the duct leading to the supply vent?

I was thinking that I could combine my odor control, ventilation and light cooling system all-in-one???

2.) How many plants should I grow? As you can see, two of them are sativas so I am planning on flowering them when they are 6 to 12 inches tall to reduce height. If possible I would like to let each plant reach its full potential given the conditions I will be growing in.

3.) How do you deal with run-off during flushing at the end of the flowering cycle? Any creative ways of directing the water run-off towards a drain/sump pump?

4.) Does the ventilation system/light cooling system/odor control system remain on all the time? What is the recommended on-off schedule? Should the system only be run using a temperature control with a high limit? Is it possible to set the ventilation system on an on-off schedule AND also using a temperature control?

5.) Is it really necessary or advantageous to use CO2?
