questions about harvesting

hey guys. do you think this plant is almost ready to harverst? all of its trichs are cloudy (i think) but none of the trichs or pistils are amber. they are just starting to curl up and turn from white to opaque. the calyxes are really swollen though.

she will be 10 weeks into flower on the 28th. i did one flush last night, and am hoping to harvest on the 28th. gonna let her soil dry out, then do one more flush, let it dry out then cut it down hopefully.

i hear that a good test to see if its flushed properly is to break off a branch and taste it. if its sweet or bitter, theres too much sugar left in her, and to wait until you taste nothing but water.

also i have another question on top of how much longer should i let it flower. i see a lot of peoples plants die off towards the end. is this becuase this naturally occurs, or becuase we flush the nutes out of the medium, and we let the soil get bone dry? thank you!

If you look in pic#2, at the top, see how you have quite a few long white still?
If it was me, I would wait until those turn reddish/ brown, and get shorter.
By that time, you should have added a little more weight, and should also see a few amber trichs.

ok. do you think this could happen in the next week if conditions are good? i feel like if i let her go too amber, that itll only degrade the psychoactive effects. i know im no where near going too amber though, but i feel like shes in her prime mating season around now? shes mature, but not old

if this plant wasnt so small i wouldnt take the chance, and i would let it over ripen a bit more, but i just wanna try it out.

also do you know if the plant will naturally start to die off, and let you know its time to harvest, or is that mostly becuase we starve the plant by flushing and drying out?

You are a few weeks out from being ready to harvest. I know it's tempting but you will be much happier if you wait until she is truly ready.

I don't see ANY amber trichs at all yet, and like I say, your hairs turning color and receding are a good indication it is time to start checking the trichs.
Give it a week or maybe little more, you will be glad you waited...........
Like I mentioned, more weight will come also.

Im on my first grow too, my theory on it is that youll never know where to far is unless you go there. I plan on intentionally going to far on one of my first plants just so i know where that line is. 100% of growers that chop to early are unhappy lol when they go amber they will start to curl over also, youll know it when you see it, patients

what happened to her..you dont want to ask that question lol. it is a mutant.

and ok, i guess instead of cutting down on the 28th, ill just check trichs agian.

regardless, i want to catch her during her prime mating time. i feel like thats when shell be the most potent, not when shes dying off, or not when shes immature.


i hope youre right about the swelling and weight bakatare. i mean, this was her on the 8th.

and then her now. shes definitely swelling a great deal.

and she will continue to do so (swell)

I know how hard it is to wait, But she is just starting to ripen for you. Give her a chance

Don't stare at it, just check your hairs daily, and you will see the change as it happens.

very good lesson to teach yourself! and should be practiced by all atleast once. even when u go past that line, i doubt youll be completly dissatisfied with it, it just wont be your preffered high, but it will get u high and i guarentee youll smoke it up as quick as the rest. And now u have that power of knowlege for future grows. my future experiments for the changing of trichomes(under my own preferences) is to take a handful of strains ranging from some sativa, some hybrids, and some indica, take around 5 cuts of each, flower them under the same conditions, and start harvesing a plant at a time from about a week before the advertised flower time, and a plant each week after. so i have five cuts from a plant thats supposed to be done in 9 weeks, i harvest a plant each week for weeks 8-13. maybe not 13 weeks thats a little overkill, but u get what im saying. that way ill be able to see how individual strains and there maturity affect my preffered high.

thank you flightschool, ninja and bakatare. ill keep an eye on the pistils. at least theyre curling up now, so i know im getting there. is it true that letting the soil dry out and the humidity drop, itll make more resin to try and compensate for the dryness, or is this just a myth?

and yeah mr.marijuana, i was just reading an article saying that if you dont know what you like, starting at week 6-7 you can take a sample every week, quick dry it, cure for a couple days and try it. you can try week 8 then, and then week 9, 10 etc. (if your plant takes that long)

i dont have enough flowers to sacrifice so i cant use this practice lol

I hadn't heard that one about drying and RH, so I can't say, but hopefully your next plant will be large enough that you can take a sample bud every few days towards the end.

and i was gonna lst one girl..but she didnt want to stay that way so i took it off. pictures are before and after lights..didnt open her up gotta wait till shes bigger

i tied it by the neck..parallel and it didnt work so im not gonna do it. and diesel is already flowering coming into week three on 12/12

they called it the white indica..doesnt say how it smells at all anywhere. i want to know if its just a sweet smell..cause it looks like the actual bud just realll minature

Unless you bought the seed yourself, or got the seed directly from someone who did, you'd have a better chance at guessing the breed of a dog with your eyes closed.
There's just that many strains out there.

ahh..damn oh well. im so curious what it is though.
