questions about my closet grow

So I am growing 7 plants in my closet with a 150w HPS. I have a few questions about this. First question the doors on the closet have slats so I am probably getting minute light leaks is this going to be an issue considering my plants have not shown sex yet? and question number two with a 150W HPS what kind of yield should I expect? I have had these 12/12 from seed for about 4 weeks now so when should I expect their sex? they were around 5 nodes tall when I topped them which I was kind of middle of the road on but hey it's just bag seed and I like to experiment. I dont have any issues with the nutes I am giving I am fairly happy with how they are doing. I am thinking I just need to shore up the light leaks which would be quite easy. they are in soil btw and it's potting soil with blood meal and bone meal as well as giving them some MG ferts until I can afford somthing better but the MG has done well so far.

Ok, I have done a closet grow with a 150w hps. First of all, they will not show sex unless put into ABSOLUTE darkness. Those light leaks are a problem and you need to correct it. I for example, hung towels in front of the grow area to block incoming light. To every man his own solution. You should normally expect sex around 2 weeks of doing 12/12 lighting and once they show sex you can expect to be at it for another 60 days. Topping is a good practice to get multiple node sites on a plant, hopefully it works out to help your yields! By the way, be very careful with those nutrients. They will not need that much if the soil is decent. Keep to those organics before over adding chemical fertilizers. If they have not shown bud sites yet, then they still need nitrogen! Give them what they need, when they need it. Over doing things is the biggest problem with marijuana symptoms and problems.

Overall, good to hear another 150w hps grower is going at it in the closet haha By the way, your light can only penetrate the canopies in the 6'' range, so keep in mind that when placing the light. If you have a high powered fan between the light and the plants you should be fine for heating issues.

I appreciate the pointers my friend, definately a plus rep for sure!, as far as over doing the ferts, I was gone for a day and either over did the ferts or underwatered and I had a few crispy leaves and my plants were a bit wilted but I flushed them and I got the light leaks fixed with some thick black industrial trashbags. there werent any weird necrotic spots or anything on my plants just a few crispy lower leaves and like I said wilted a bit so im hoping the flush worked if I under watered or over ferted since it pretty much corrects both issues. but yea the 150w hps needs a group on here like the 250w hps group it would certainly be helpful. and I have a small but pretty powerful fan and I dont seem to have a single temperature issue and my plants arent quite 6 inches tall and the light seems to penetrate well into their tiny canopies.

I would gladly join the 150 HPS group, I do however use 2. Running them side by side allows me to cover a little more area. I have great control over my flowering chamber in regards to over all construction. Every aspect closely regulated. My plants are 3 weeks and 3 days and they where super cropped.

the top 3"

the bottom 6"

I also use DM Liquid light for super tight node stacking with out needing HUGE lights. The nodes are about one centimeter apart during veg and go to one inch during flowering.

I got 2 ladies out of 6 plants under my 150w they are doing great and I actually upraded to 1 gallon grow bags which I think will make a huge difference considering I had them started in such small pots they already seem a happier now that they have more space to grow, I doubt it will help much this time around as I transplanted during flower but those 1 gallon grow bags are gonna be handy in the future!!!

the ladies are about to finish up and I am not really going to have much of a yield maybe a half ounce at the most just trial and error but I have learned alot with this first grow and I am happy with my results as I have not had a plant die or anything and they actually grew really well even with the 150w hps it's small but hey it's good stuff very trichromed kinda like triked out popcorn haha plenty for me anywayz and I can always take clones from my outdoors ladies so this little 150w hps should suffice for my uses.
