Questions about water sources

Hi guys, Im having source problems... lately..

I have 3 5 gallon containers, and two of them are used to water veg and flowering soil plants, the fertilizer is in the water not the soil.

the other jug is new and only has dechlorination and ph'd...

The containers are open and have bubblers going to all of them.

Their temps are probably around 60-70 degrees

the containers are exposed to light as they are in the middle of my grow room.


From what I have told you guys, can you tell me what, if anything, am I doing wrong?

Lately the ferted water containers have become murky and when I take the bubbles out I see stuff floatin around...

I am confused with what the problem is.
It sounds like your only problem is your trying to grow water....
But water doesn't grow it comes from the ground.

hazey, get the water out of the light, itll cause algae to form. get covers for the tops of those bottles as well.

It's just my opinion, but I think it is best to make and use fresh nutes/water when you are going to actually use it. The ph can change from when you mix it to when you use it(I have personally witnessed that). The only thing you lose doing it that way is that the chlorine doesn't get to dissipate, but a lot of growers use regular tap water all the time with a problem. I think that by premixing you are begging algae and other pathogens to grow. Would you leave out a meal for yourself, for several days, at room temp., and then eat it? I also wipe the inside of my buckets(and any equipment I'm using) with rubbing alcohol to sterilize before I mix anything. Good Luck!

So, should I only have the tops open when I want the chlorine to dissipate?

Also I cant mix my nutes and water freshly every time I water my plants, that would complicate things greatly, there should be a way, which is apparently blocking the light to the water.

Yes chlorine does has effect on cannabis, it don't like it. Sounds like your just storing your water too long. I leave water in a open 5 gal bucket for 24-48hrs any longer than that i toss it out. Water is pretty cheap.

yeah but if you gotta carry the bucket far water is pretty damn heavy. You could cover
them with some big ole-hefty bags though I would think the nutes like "Cdici" said would
probably make alge and stuff grow really fast, especially if it gets sunlight because
alge uses nutes and sunlight just the same way marijuana does.
For example all that murk you see in
lakes and rivers, it makes all that mill foil grow too, basically it happens from people with
lake shore properties using fertilizers on their gardens.

So what exactly is the "effect" you refer to? I'm not arguing here, we just have a little difference of opinion and that's cool . I have grown a variety of plants that are big, healthy and lush with (chlorinated) tap water for years. If it's hurting them you'd never know it, because there is no yellowing, wilting, spotting, etc. I'm not a scientist and I'm not saying there is absolutely zero difference, I'm just saying if there is a difference it certainly appears negligible.

Well i think your right its negligible if your tap water only has a little chlorine. I can smell the chlorine in my water so let it evaporate out. Chlorine will also kill some of the benifical enzymes i use in the soil. This is what i've read. Levels less than 140 ppm are safe for most plants. Chloride sensitive plants may experience tip or marginal leaf burn at concentrations above 20 ppm.
Chlorine Deficiency:
Wilted chlorotic leaves become bronze in color. Roots become stunted and thickened near tips. Plants with chlorine deficiencies will be pale and suffer wilting.
Chlorine Toxicity:
Burning of leaf tip or margins. Bronzing, yellowing and leaf splitting. Reduced leaf size and lower growth rate.

Im gonna stick to no chlorine, just cuz my water tastes bad, so they prolly have a lot in there, lol.

I stuck the jugs inside rubber maids with the lids on and bubblers feeding through to them as well, the jugs are still open topped though as thats my only way of giving them beautiful BUBBLES!! ^_^.

And yes I have to carry the 5 gallon jugs UPSTAIRS and walk all around my house to fill them up... all 3 of them, so storing water is more of a priority to me... that and my fertilizer is powerful so I use a lot of water to dilute it.

dude dont oxygenate the standing water itll only promote algae growth. the bubbles are only useful when the plant is in the water with it. oxygenating the water and then pouring it in your reservoir is not going to do anything that helps.
