Questions on the new Change of caregiver/address form

Hello all,
Hope your day is going good. So I just wanted to ask if someone minds helping me feel more at ease with this new formand the details of it. When I got my Dr's rec last year, I signed a certain Dispensary as my caregiver. After a few months I decided to remove them as they were not living up to expectations. I never recieved a new Red Card stating that I now had NO caregiver..but I had read that the state was no longer sending out new cards when you changed caregivers. I spent the last several months with no caregiver just growing my own meds . Today I visited a dispensary that I have liked very much lately......and in a nutshell they convinced me that if I sent in the new caregiver form and marked "Medical Marijuana Center and Self"....that I would still be legal to grow my 6 plants. Is this true??
And also....if I chose to remove them in 2 weeks because of whatever reason....could I just send in another form that said just "Self" and I'd be fine??
Please forgive my confusion on this....and I really appreciate any help in understanding this new form.

That's a very common question that was further complicated by the recent passing of HB1284. According to the text therin, if you have designated a 'Primary Caregiver' as someone else (other than self) you cannot grow your own. Here's the excerpt from HB1284. Someone else can chime in if they want but I find it hard to beleive that they would allow a MMC to grow and you, but not your Primary caregiver and you. Then again CO politicians are asshats anyways.

Thanks for your reply. Yeah....thats what I was worried about. I hate how the Owner of this MMC told me straight to my face, That "YES, you can still grow your own 6 plants!".....
So now I guess my question is.....can I just send in another form right away stating that I want just "self" as the option? Are there problems sending in 2 forms whithin a couple weeks of one another?

I changed mine like 3 times with the last change being nameing my self as caregiver and no mmc . Why should we have to pick a mmc when we can go to any dispensary freely ? thats why I named my self .I know I,m covered on growing .

So,
I just got home from going to the dispensary when they opened, and asking if they had mailed the form yet. It was sitting right there on the desk still, so I told them I had changed my mind and I wanted the form shredded. He shredded it while I told him "it seems pretty clear in HB1284 that if I have designated a MMC to grow for me...that I couldn't grow...and he really had nothing to say. Just gave me that look of "Oh shit...now I feel stupid.." Anyway, still interested what others have to say on the subject.....

If you check the box for MMC and Self, you have to make an agreement on who is going to grow how many of the six plants. Ie dispensary grows 3 and patient grows 3. Both can't have 6.

We have some patients with expanded recs. We'll only grow the 6 allowed by the constitutional exception. If they want to use their affirmative defense on the rest of the plants, go nuts.

ABSOLUTELY RIGHT! SoCO gets another +1 lol.

There are now 5 boxes, self, MMC, caregiver, Self & MMC, Self & Caregiver. The last 2 means you have to have an agreement of who can grow how many.

Lots of people are getting edible recs, and doing 12 plants instead of 6, but we do the same thing, take the 6 allowed by law and let them do their thing. Thats between them, the Dr., and the Government.

Our Lawyer is still trying to figure it out too if it makes you feel better lol. "government asshats" as macgyver put it so eloquently are obtuse and ambiguous on purpose, gives them ways out without taking blame

ALSO- you will only be allowed to change 4times a year for a caregiver or MMC. and they are trying to tie you to one MMC starting July 1 2011, which is BS if you go out of town.

Thanks very much for your input here. If I may ask one tiny question more? My apologies, I'm sure this answer is out there but I have been having trouble getting it. Q: I mailed in a "change of caregiver" form several months ago (before HB1284, new forms, etc..) but never received a new red-card with my new status (not having a caregiver). I of course retained copies of the form and certified mail receipts from sending it in. Do or Don't they send out new RedCards when a new caregiver form has been sent in? Also, can I call them to confirm the status I should have?

Even though you pay $90 for a cheap ass piece of paper certificate, they will not send out a new one each time you change caregivers. If you mailed the form, just leave it at that as long as you kept a copy.

Keep copies of ANYTHING that you send to the state, and proof of mailing never hurts.

Yeah, I still have a copy of the form as well as certified mailing receipts for both the state and for the letter telling my old caregiver that I removed him. Your input is always appreciated. Thanks for helping keep other CO patients safe.
